  1. has anyone got any good pics of mk2 escorts

  2. Do you have a full size of your avatar?

  3. I hope these work.

  4. Some more.

  5. Mk2's rule. If you just go to google and do an image search for 'mk2 escort' you will get a load of matches.

  6. Mk1 is superior

  8. Good choice with the Pug <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>

Where are you ? what events are you looking at competing in ?

  9. Why do you think that?

    Not dis-agreeing, just curious.
Personally i prefer Mk2's, but not by much.

    Cheers, Greg.

  10. Didn't work.

  11. I grew up on Mk2s.... 2 Sports and 1 Ghia to be specific...

  12. Well it was the first one! I am no Escort buff, so I wouldn't know which won more rallies, but the Mk.1 is what you see in classic rallies these days.

But the REAL reason I prefer it is much simpler. It's the shape. To me, the Mk.1 looks gorgeous. The Mk.2 looks very boring.

Thanks for not flaming me, this place is great when we all respect each other and their opinions <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

Tell me, why do you prefer the Mk.2??

  13. Here there are a couple of Mk1 TwinCams (Lotus engine) and only 3 (rumour of a 4th) RS MK2... all showing up in classic rallies....

  14. I think the Mk2 looks 'tougher', has more attitude. I would agree that the Mk1 is a more classic shape, and is better looking [all curves etc] as opposed to the Mk2's square front.
Mk2's were more successful in compeition, and are still very competitive in national rallies today. They also have masses of tuning potential [although Mk1's arent far off either]. There's just something about them that makes me think 'cool' when I see a Mk2, although they're a rare sight around my area.

I'm on my 3rd Mk2 now, everytime I've been in the market for an Escort i've never really been bothered whether I ended up with a Mk1 or Mk2.

    Cheers, Greg.

  15. Is it possible to upload any pics for us, Greg?

  16. Of my car? Or Mk2's in general?

You wouldnt really want to see my car, nothing special at the moment looks wise [it needs a respray desperately although bodywork is in good condition]. I dont have any pics of it on my comp either.

Current spec: 2dr Mk2 1979 Dark Blue. 2.0 Pinto SOHC with Stage 2 head, fast road camshaft, 4-1 manifold with single box system, and twin 40's. Lowered 1" front on Bilstein struts, lowered 2" rear on Bilstein dampers and 2.5 turn to turn quick-rack. RS 4 spoke alloys, front recaros and no rear seats.

    Cheers, Greg.

  17. Yeah, of your car I meant. That sounds like quite a little beast - I'm sure you have fun with it!
