i have one of these RX-7's they are niiiiiice i have 3 rotors in mine but it costs me about 6,000 to find another rotary but i havnt been able to measure the HP yet and are u sure its 654CC bcuz 2 of the rotors in mine are 654CC and the one i added on i made it a 854CC but its a really nice car to tune up and a SupraTT is another good one (which i also have)<!-- Signature -->

  2. Re: modifications to improve...

everything is good for a rx-7/speed/and looks. but the only thing bad about that baby is that its only 2 seats. u can do alot of engine work to dis baby. the rx-7/supra and skyline are the best import cars out there. and i think no import can beat that.

  3. Re: modifications to improve...

    Assyrians make Mazda

  4. Re: modifications to improve...

They are really nice cars...u put boost control, blowoff valves on it and ur talking about beating Z28's<!-- Signature -->

  5. rotary engines

can anyone tell me exactly what a rotary engine is...and why they even exist...always wondered what made them different.

  6. some tuning workshop claims to extract 580hp from the previous version RX-7, I wonder if this version is capable of even higher preformance... considering the excellent handling, lightweightness, powerstroke of the rotary engine...this is the car to look out for on the road if it is modified to perform at an even higher level...

  7. Re: modifications to improve...

Ya, i read in Car and Driver magazine that the Peter Farrel RX7's are pretty amazing.

    God bless the RX7.

  8. Re: modifications to improve...

im not really a fan of mazda, but this is one of my fav top 5 sportcars.
its light, handles very good and its fast.
the first time i found out it has a 1300cc rotary i didnt believe it.

its got to spin so fast for that bhp that the engine dies after 100k.
thats the only negative thing that i see about the car.
my friend got a 93 rx7 (i think, but it could be 95) with a new engine, but he doesnt drive it all :-( (its not in the same country as him) :)

  9. Re: modifications to improve...

Well it is still a fine car regardless, but the new ones look a whole lot better

  10. Re: modifications to improve...

    Yep, gotta love the RX7's.
i just wish they still have them here in North America, cuz in Japan, they got the RX7 Type RZ which makes about 280hp or so, vs the 250hp we get here. and i certainly hope that they'll stick a turbo in the RX8.

    Re: modifications to improve...

If you own one of the 3rd gen.'s try www.robrobinnette.com or www.rx7turboturbo.com (to link to rob's archive) This guy did everything imaginable to his RX7. It includes reliability mods as well as good links and complete how to's on performance mods he did. The best site I've seen. Pretty much 3rd gen only.

    Re: modifications to improve...

If you go to www.corksport.com then go to J-Spec Engines there is a $3,999 engine. It is a three-rotor monster for an RX-7. Whoever said it was right in that it is a 20b (number is how many liters). It puts out about 650 horsepower and is for racing use only. <!-- Signature -->

  15. Re: modifications to improve...

    doesnt the number 20 in 20B mean 2.0 L?
    its not 20 L man <IMG SRC="http://www.supercarforums.com/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">

  16. Re: modifications to improve...

The rotary engine is pretty much the greatest engine on God's green earth if you ask me (by the way the don't die after 100,000 miles i have one with 125k already and she's just fine, you just have to know how to take care of it that's all). It doesn't have cylinders like domestic engines do, it has 2 (or 3) rotors inside that rotate in a VERY weird manner to cause combustion. It's somewhat like the piston engine in that is has combustion and all that but it's the way the rotor moves that lets the fuel get in and then air, spark etc. Emissions are a bit different (more touchy), but the new RENESIS engine is much "cleaner", but the older cars aren't hardly dirty. The engine is the smallest type of engine you can buy (smaller than civic engines, but 2-3 times as powerful). I'm shocked that the new RENESIS rotary can put out 250hp w/out using turbo or supercharging (forced induction), and can't wait to drive the car (I'll probably camp out at the dealership on the eve of the release of the car so I can test drive it).

  17. Re: modifications to improve...

your all wrong. If your rx-7 is a 3rd generation it has 1308cc no question bout it and if you divide that by two for each rotor that 654cc so add another and that'll boost you to about 1962cc. AAnd to everyone else rx-7's kick all ass, and the good thing is that they have so much potential.

  18. Re: modifications to improve...

All RX-7's come stock with the 13B, except for the 1st gens which had that little 12A powerplant. To beat z28's, all you have to do is drop in a J-Spec rear end and you will do more then keep up with them. As far as engines ... the 20B isn't the best. The massive 26B, is by far the best. I have only seen two of them, but they are extremely #$%#ing powerful. One guy said he was going to try and take his up over 1500hp. Nothing compares to RX-7's. :D<!-- Signature -->

  19. Re: modifications to improve...

yo, im new here, but i just wanted to say a bit bout my 7...i got my 7 upto 659hp...95'.. metallic silver.riped all he interior and the pass seat. and its STRICKTLY RACING!!

  20. Re: modifications to improve...

anyone know which rx7 uses the 20B engine?

  21. Re: modifications to improve...

No RX-7 comes stock with the 20B. The only car that came stock with the 20B was the RX-5 (Cosmo). Mazda was going to introduce a MX-3 with the 20B, but costs got in the way and they didn't think that little car needed 300+hp.<!-- Signature -->

  22. Re: modifications to improve...

the 20B engine comes only in cosmos in japan<!-- Signature -->
