Discussion in 'American Cars' started by Dodge Spirit RT, Sep 12, 2004.

  1. Anyways, my friends 4 cyl mystang is parked outside my house. It has a 5-speed borg warner and a 5.0 clutch. Earlier we tried to do a brakestand with 5 ppl in the car. It didnt grab and smoke came out of the clutch. This clutch was brand new last monday and its slipping. He thinks its a hose or something. We need to get out of here soon. Someone pleeeaasse help. [Sorry for the title in caps, I just need someones help fast!]

  2. Simple, the clutch is not broken in yet. Brand new clutches and brakes are not very good until they are set. congrats, you guys wrecked the clutch. Prob the flywheel is a bit polished as well now. Could also be improper install, not enough force, but I would say that is not it if there was enough friction to smoke.

  3. You need a new clutch.

  5. I belive this thread is a few weeks old... subaru just bumped it...

  6. The fact that it was posted on sept 12 means it's exactly a week old.

  7. You're buddy should've gone about 3k miles or so breaking in the clutch...and since you guys all decided to do a break stand you probably need to get the flywheel resurfaced.

  8. And end your life.

  9. For what? Destroying a new clutch in an ignorant manner? Or driving a 4 cylinder Mustang when a 5.0 can be had in decent condition for 4k? <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  10. 4k?
I'll sell you a truck bed full for 4K

  11. For destroying a clutch.
