New Game Thread XXVI

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by catphish, Oct 15, 2008.

1. its a game about life. They give you choices like IRL. God gave us choices when he made us and the ability to have gay sex and orgies etc. he didnt hide that from any of us. Do you expect game developers to "one up" God morally by not allowing us to do such things, or should they follow Gods lead and give people choice?
2. I would like 777 to respond to this, which is a less sarcastic version of my post

4. Like I've said before, I do my best to not financially support companies that promote the homosexual lifestyle.

Sometimes it's unavoidable, but it's an important issue to me so I really can't justify buying Fable 2.
5. they're not supporting it IMO. Supporting it would mean that if you do it you get benefits in game or something like that.

By simply allowing it they're just saying you can do this in real life and you can also do it in the game cause this game is just like real life.

And the homosexual lifestyle isnt inherently more sinful than greed, lying, cheating, stealing, murder, adultery, or any number of other sins that are far more prevailent in video games. I don't see why you need to focus soley on this issue and none of the others.
6. I'm intentionally not responding to your post, Danno, because this is the Game Thread and I don't want it to get off topic.

But I just figured you deserved to know that I read your post and at least *thought* of a reply.
7. Dude, no #$%#ing way. It's an amazing game.
8. You're a camper? Wow, I'm impressed.
9. Gold Rush isn't Team Deathmatch.

You're *supposed* to camp and defend your crates of gold. That's kind of the point.
10. we are talking about games, this is a very relevant topic. I'm sure other people would be interested to hear your views on this too.

(its certainly more interesting than hearing about BF:BC again)
11. In short, I greatly dislike publicizing the homosexual lifestyle. So anything that puts it in the public view is essentially promoting it from my perspective. And that's all I'll say on the matter. If you're curious to know more, PM me.
12. Yeah, but apparently you suck if you aren't camping. Which was my point. I've played Gold Rush.
13. I'm always the Support class, which typically doesn't do well at CQB. If I go toe-to-toe against an AUG or shotgun I usually die, but the Support class is incredibly valuable to team victory and, unfortunately, very few people seem to choose it.
14. I played the BF:BC demo and I was greatly dissapointed. Destructible terrain is cool, but it seems to destructible. It was impossible for me to take cover to do things like switch weapons or reload or heal because everything was blowing the #$%# up. Maybe it isn't so weird against other people.

The story seems pretty meh too. The characters were very uninteresting and not funny.

Soundtrack seemed cool though!

I'll stick with CoD4
16. It wouldn't be fine by me, considering better already exists.

17. 1. I think those bullshots of Battlefield look better than Crysis Warhead.
2. Why did you pick such a terrible screenshot to try to prove your point?
18. Holy #$%#ing shit, more Bio Shock porn, please.

20. The shot I posted has way better lighting, shadows and blur.

I picked a candid shot, not some PR bullshot sent to the press.
21. I can't believe how many people already have Far Cry 2 and LittleBigPlanet.
22. If you care to check all your local retailers, I bet there's a decent chance that one of them has a disgruntled high school kid that is putting out games early because they didn't bother to read the labels on the box.
23. How is it possible that none of these games had demos? Don't the publishers want to make money?

- Baja: Edge of Control
- LEGO Batman: The Videogame
- WipEout HD
- Silent Hill: Homecoming
- Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer
- Blitz: The League II
- Dead Space
- Golden Axe: Beast Rider
- Rise of the Argonauts
- Saints Row 2
- SCORE International Baja 1000
- SOCOM: Confrontation
24. this shit is already at 7 pages ? news flash: video games aren't that great. read a book ffs.
25. Demos only help GOOD new IPs, or good under-the-radar games. Most games will sell on the strength of the IP, or are bad and hope that people will accidentally buy them.

Only Dead Space on that list would have benefitted from a demo, but it has a decent marketing budget so it doesn't really need one.

I plan to rent Dead Space if it's at Blockbuster in ~5 hours from now.
