New GT Falcon

Discussion in '2001 Ford Falcon 300' started by nissanZboy, Aug 9, 2002.

1. Does anyone know anything about the new GT falcon, even when facts will be released to the public, or anything. I hope it can live up to the name of the original ones, not like the EL GT.

I've read that there may be a GT and maybe even a GTHO. It would be nice to see them whoop some holden ass
3. Re: New GT Falcon

i have heard some basic specs, like 300+ kw (but i cant remember the rest) and with the new BA shape it should be a killer.
4. Re: New GT Falcon

If I were a betting man I'd put my money on a GT/GTHO model coming in. No one outside of Ford/Tickford/Prodrive will know power outputs, so there no point even guessing. Still it would be a safe bet to presume it will have atleast 300kw.
5. Re: New GT Falcon

It seems that even if Ford bring out the GT falcon again, and re-live it's badge, it most likely won't go over the 300+kW mark. People working inside Ford have told me that to get a car with power over 300kW they would havwe to pay oug big money to the government. So Maybe Ford will once again only have concepts generating over 300kW. They are now dsaying 290kW+ so don't think that they won't go over the 300kW mark. It just now isn't most likely what will happen.
6. Re: New GT Falcon

Nissan boy I am sure we will see a Faclon GT or GTHO of some sort with about 330kw.
7. Re: New GT Falcon

Well you can be sure, I'm only hopeful, because people who do work for Ford have told me that they are not going to and wheeles says they've dropped their power estimate down to 290 kW +
So you can be sre, but with what i heard i'm sticking with DOUBTFUL

9. Re: New GT Falcon

Yeah, I saw that. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got totally hyped up when I saw the new falcon website and they said they were reviving the GT!!!! No pics though

But 240kW for XR6! Can I have one now?

I will definately be going to the Motor Show!
10. Re: New GT Falcon

well this is all I have to say.. estimated power/torque/performance
I grabbed next months motor today and their sources say should be 320kW and 530Nm... performing 0 - 100km/h in mid 5s, and 0 - 400m in mid - low 13s. This is ann estimate, but still damn that's nice, can't wait for the GT-P
11. Re: New GT Falcon

Yeah, I got that too. They reckon they can get 270kW from the XR6!!!!

Can't wait for them to test it.
12. Re: New GT Falcon

Yeh well they reckon they can get that, but i reckon that if you want it, you'll have to do it yaself.
13. Re: New GT Falcon

You could mod the 6 and easily get 300kW it. The aftermarket will love it!!!!!
14. Re: New GT Falcon

I wouldnt reccomend upping the boost of the Turbo 6 without reworking the bottom end. The Turbo 6 runs with standard rods, and the durability testing of the engine has been done with its production output. Any more power and you are asking for trouble. Sorry to have to say.

As for the GT, well It will be close to 300kw, not over, but remember this model will sell for around 70 grand and be the volume seller, or the direct competitor to the Clubsport. GT-P will compoete against R8, with the pursuit ute to go up to the Maloo. What about the GTS you ask? Well, can anyone say 340kw GTHO?

You have no idea how big the smile on my face was when I read the letters G-T-H-O
16. Re: New GT Falcon

I thought GT-P was the new name for GT-HO. the all round performance instead of the old muscle car.
MOTOR estimated a 320kW 530Nm GT.
so these stats could be from 280 - 330kW, knowing motor.

Re: New GT Falcon

GT-P the new name? Theres never a name that will superscede the Legend that is GTHO! Do you even realise what an enormous affect it would have if Ford released a car with this name?

I found an article you might find interesting.
18. Re: New GT Falcon

If Ford release a car with the legendary GTHO badge, I'm sure that it will do what tickfords slogan said, own the road.

When I was cruising with my dad the other day in my Datsun 260Z, which is now sold, but we went past a XY GT, it wa ssad to see sum1 looking at the datsun, and not the GT.
But good to see they haven't completely got rid of the HO. Like the article says, they are probably planning one at FPV right now.

I had no problem with those t-series range, it would be good to have another car in between XR8 and GT. I had no problem with the t-series range, now that tickford's dead they are dropping them, but why not put in a car to continue on with what the t-series was about, it was a lot cheaper than the GT Falcon would be, it would be good to have a car that's better than the XR8, but not as expensive as the GT.
19. Re: New GT Falcon

But Cobb, the GT and GT-P are replacing what TE and TS were all about. Replacing them and bettering them in every way. GT will be the entry level FPV, starting at less than 70 grand and competing with Clubsport on price I would say. GT-P will be what the TS50 was, the luxurious model and will go against the R8 on price.

The Base T-series started at around 58 grand, I can see GT beeing no less than 65 grand. But remember these wil come with a 290kw/500nm+ engine (my estimate), Brembo brakes standard, sports tuned control blade IRS with koni shockers, and a whle list of toher stuff.

All I know though is that FPV are saving the best till last. Anf thier best will defintely be a GTHO. BY naming thier top model car this, they wouldnt have to prove that it is the best, becasue the name goes without saying. Also look out for an FPV LWB model, Focus, and Turbo 6.
20. Re: New GT Falcon

That's All i wanted to hear

MOTOR said 320kW 530Nm GT
21. Re: New GT Falcon

I know that there is going to be a falcon GT and GT-P. I currenty have an XR6 TURBO. It runs 12.9 seconds. It rips the clubsport by heaps. Am i guessinbg that all of you are from Australia?
22. Re: New GT Falcon

A immitation hahah funni u say that, wasnt it ford that got given the HSV front apron cause they were soo far behind in the v8 supercars? by the way 12.6 isnt very fast mayb if ur car was lighter it might go quicker.
23. Re: New GT Falcon

Hey dickhead, dont even start on the V8s. HSV front? HSV's are road cars they dont race in V8s. It's actually a TEGA front spoiler, and it was given to Ford to help improve downforce. The original aerokit was dissalowed on the AU, so Ford was left with no other choice but to quickly put the EL front spoiler onto the AU with limited time to re-test its dynamics with it fitted.

You really like to open a can of worms don't you? What whole rear suspension assmebly do you think the commodore runs? That's right, its a ford 9" differential with Watts linkage. Ever seen A Commodore with watts linkage? No, i thought they had panhard rods! Silly me...

You realise that all the modifications required to the Commodore inorder to fit the ford rear end resulted in the commodore having different locating points, which happened to be better for putting power to the ground. Holden also has a wider front track, and conbined with better aerodynamics, makes it very hard for fords to compete without running alot of negative camber. As you would know (or not know) this makes the car use its tyres more, especially when driving it harder. Tyre conservation on racing is a must, so driving to the limit all the time is not awlays the most desirable act.

Just a side note, I think it was 94 when Fords front undertray was cut by 50mill or something to even up the competition. The EL was a much better race car, and was no plagued in a competition with such disparity.
24. Re: New GT Falcon

And may I ask what time your Datsun 120Y pulls on the quarter??
You sound like the cheap-a$$ who can only afford a car like that.

Fair go, if you like Skylines, good for you. I like Skylines, I like Fords, but I don't go into the Holden forums with the sole purpose of abusing the fans - unlike you and your 10 year old brother. I figure its either that, or you should really see someone about your schizophernia.....

I hope that one day you can get a Skyline, or even a 200SX course they're nice cars. But I reckon you might have to wait till after ou get off your P-plates.....
25. Re: New GT Falcon

Firstly, I would like to thank Tickford5400 from saving me a lot of typing, I couldn't have said it better my friend

GTHO, lay off the Dattos mate
