I have my Xbox modded as well and I've had nothing of the sort. I buy the games that I wanna play online, the rest of them (or games that dont even have MP, like Assassins Creed) I just get burnt copies.

 

They used to catch modders because the pre-release leaked copies would have slightly different code than retail versions, and they could detect that difference over Live and ban those people with certainty.

Crackdown was definitely a trap, I think Microsoft leaked the trojan horse version and when the Halo 3 beta started was their first round of banning.

If you are playing burned single player games, do it on a separate offline gamertag and disconnect your 360 from the Internet for maximum safety. No guarantees, but it should reduce your risk of being banned.

 

I have a direct download link for GTA for Xbox, but not for PC :'(

It's funny how you pimp your forum whenever you can. You even took all those GTA IV gifs and hosted them on your site, and then linked to your site for them instead of the source.

 

I didn't want to link to the source because I figured Neogaf would generate too much traffic and kill the links.

I found them on Neogaf but the images were all hosted by websites like ImageShack and stuff like that.

I think all of us have seen the "Images have exceeded bandwidth" thumbnail before.

 

My friend with a PS3 isn't getting GTA IV at all. He said his friends with a PS3 aren't either. I couldn't believe it when he told me, everyone I know with a 360 wants GTA IV badly.

You PS3 early adopters are a weird breed. You don't buy good games and are the reason software sales on PS3 are so soft.

 

PS2 and PS3 owners are typically a lot less hardcore than Xbox (360) owners.

We buy games that suit our interests and we rarely buy into the hype of "must-have games" if they fail to intrigue us. Case in point, I wouldn't buy Dead Rising, Gears of War, BioShock, or Ninja Gaiden II even if they were PS3 exclusives. Why? Because they go against my sensibilities. Conversely, if 360s were reliable and Formula One Championship Edition had been an exclusive to the platform, I surely would have purchased one long ago.

And if your friend (and/or his friends) are disturbed by immoral content, GTA4 simply isn't for them...

So I just caved and watched the GameTrailers.com HD video review. Looks pretty awesome, and had essentially no spoilers.

 

So I got it preordered, but does this game come out Tuesday night or Wednsday night? (night as in midnight)

 

Tuesday, so Monday mightnight

 

I've decided: if I find out (probably next week) I passed all my classes I'm buying a new 360 + GTA4 (probably from Walmart for ezy returns). OTOH if I find out I somehow bombed an exam and failed something then suicide is my unique option.

 

Cool, well I'm not going to get anything done this week.

 

I got an 82 avg my last semester of undergrad, and got into a MSc, so good enough to warrant purchasing an excess of games for the summer.
