  2. The Ferrari 599XX sets a new record on the legendary Nürburgring
    Maranello, 23 April

The Ferrari 599XX is the first ever production-derived sports car to break the 7-minute barrier on the classic 20.832 km Nordschleife circuit, lapping in 6 min 58.16 sec.

The 599XX, which inspired the 599 GTO, is an extreme berlinetta designed for track but not official competition use, and is a veritable technological laboratory incorporating a number of innovative solutions. Some of these will remain the exclusive preserve of the 599XX while others have already filtered down to the 599 GTO, introduced today at the Beijing Motor Show. These include the wheel doughnuts of F1 derivation which serve two purposes - to reduce turbulence and thus drag, and improve brake cooling.

Powered by a development of the V12 engine used by the 599 GTB Fiorano, the 599XX features Ferrari's High-Performance Dynamic Concept, a novel integrated design and chassis set-up that uses sophisticated electronics to govern the mechanical limits of the handling for maximum performance.

On the aerodynamics front, the car sees the introduction for the first time of the Actiflow™ System that increases downforce and/or cuts drag depending on the car’s trim during cornering. This, together with other careful detailing, ensures that the 599XX boasts extraordinary levels of downforce - up to 630 kg at 300 km/h.

Fundamental to the performance of the car was the development of specific components undertaken together with our technical partners: Brembo for the carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin for the tyres and Shell for the fuel and lubricants.

  13. Permomances about SLS and GT3 RS?

  14. Porsche 911 GT3 RS:
    450 bhp @ 7,900 rom
    430 Nm @ 6,750 rpm
    6-speed manual
    1417 kg
    0-100 km/h: 4.1 s
    0-160 km/h: 8.2 s
    0-200 km/h: 12.7 s
    Vmax = 310 km/h
    0-200-0 km/h: 17.4 s
    max. lat acceleration: 1.5 g
    18 m slalom: 74.7 km/h
    36 m slalom: 146 km/h
    110 m evasion test: 162 km/h
    wet handling track: 1:36.6 min.
    total score: 72 pts.
    Nurburgring: 7.33 min.
    Hockenheim: 1:09.6 min.

    Mercedes SLS AMG:
    571 bhp @ 6,800 rom

    0-160 km/h: 7.8 s
    0-200 km/h: 11.5 s
    Vmax = 317 km/h
    0-200-0 km/h: 16.3 s

    wet handling track: 1:31.5 min.
    total score: 74 pts.
    Nurburgring: 7.40 min.
    Hockenheim: 1:10.8 min.

the 911 GT3 RS is the sportier car for sure, but overall the SLS AMG achives a higher score as it offers a much better handling in the wet and a better straight-line performance

  15. GT3 surely has Pilot sporrt cup + extreme setup = problems when wet!
    The sls is so impressive.
This unit seems 50 lighter than Quattroruote, probably it has no optionals...

  16. latest addition to the list:

    7:11* -- 172.07 km/h - Porsche 911 GT2 RS, 620 PS/1350 kg *mfr.

even tough it´s just a rumour and not confirmed

  17. Holy shit if true.

    this maybe sounds more reasonable:

Porsche 911 GT2 RS (2010) spied at the 'Ring

We hear 600PS, so that’s 592bhp from the direct-injection, twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat six. And expect near to 600lb ft of lugging torque as well. Combine that grunt with a launch control system and the new 911 GT2 should hit 62mph in under 3.5 seconds, and the torque figure should provide scary mid-range acceleration.

Of course, a six-speed manual is the only gearbox option and Cup tyres will mean it’s a handful in the wet. But on a dry track it should be epic – a Nurburgring time of 7min 22sec has been mooted, meaning it’s quicker than that pesky Nissan GT-R.

    still damn impressive

  22. officially cnfirmed by Porsche today!

620 Highly Efficient Turbo-Horsepower: Most Powerful Street-Legal Porsche of all Times

Stuttgart. The time: seven minutes, 18 seconds on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The power: 620 hp. The weight: 1,370 kilograms or 3,021 lb in road trim with all fluids on board. The car: the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The GT2 RS is making its world debut at the Moscow Auto Show on August 25th.

The future top GT model marking the absolute climax in the 911 range is the fastest and most powerful road-going sports car ever built in the history of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart. With power up by 90 hp and weight down by 70 kilograms or 154 lb in comparison with the 911 GT2, the new 911 GT2 RS has a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.21 kilos or 4.9 lb per horsepower, by far the best power/weight ratio in its class. Obviously, these are the ideal ingredients for an ultra-high-performance sports car with supreme agility, truly blistering performance on the road, and of course exemplary Porsche Intelligent Performance. For despite this extra power and performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions versus the 911 GT2 are down by approximately 5 per cent to 11.9 ltr/100 km (equal to 23.7 mpg imp) and 284 g/km.

The 3.6 litre six-cylinder boxer engine boosted by two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry exclusive to Porsche in its combination with a gasoline engine drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Developed especially for the 911 GT2 RS, sports tyres measuring 325/30 ZR 19 convert this massive power into equally massive performance and acceleration on the road: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in just 9.8 seconds, and 0 to 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds. Top speed is 330 km/h.

  23. 7 minutes and 18 seconds? holy shit
