Although almost all the facts are already known about the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder, the German brand is still tweaking and perfecting the car, which means spy photos are still coming.

Photographed in Northern Sweden, two 918 were spied during cold weather testing, still looking exactly the same as the test mules seen previously. Using electric motors at each axle, the 918 will also be powered by a V8 engine delivering a total system output of 770 hp as well as a remarkably good 78 mpg. Pricing has been divulged by the brand as well, costing $845,000 on the low end, and approaching the million dollar mark when the car is loaded with options.

The 918 is expected on the market sometime before the end of 2013, and will try and steal some customers from companies like Bugatti, while new competition is expected sometime soon from Audi.

  2. is this new carrera gt ?

  3. It's Porsche's new supercar but the philosophy behind it is kinda different compared to the Carrera GT.

  4. So and so... maybe new 959 <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

  5. imagine that in few years from now porsche makes another version of 918, but without any hybrid and other heavy electro stuff, just that revving v8 with 600+ hp, manual, with 1200-1300 kg... it would be amazing to see two basically the same chassis, but such a different approach, and to compare the end result...

  6. that's the thing though, it's not necessarily the fastest approach or the most pure driving experience, the 918 seems like a technology exercise more than anything.

100000 horsepower, fast, etc. but also super fuel efficient, etc.

  7. That'll never happen because Porsche isn't run by degenerates.

  8. I had a chat with Ken Lingenfelter the other day, he says they already had a chance to drive it and its completely bonkers. He claims it starts entirely in electric.

  9. you should check the reviews... It does start in electric mode until X mph then the petrol engine kicks in

  10. Yea he said this, and I think he says its electric all the way to 90mph but that seemed wrong to me.

  11. I should hope it's based on throttle input or something because I think the electric motors only make something like, 250hp.

The torque curve of electric engines would definitely be nice at low rpms tho.

  12. yes İ agree with you and I hope dont be concept <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
