Porsche accueses Nissan of cheating

  1. no matter how advance it is, theres no way a 1700kg plus car with 500hp is going to get acelerations and speeds of cars with a far superior power-to-weight ratio, thats wishful thinking at best

7.29min is bs, anyone with a bit of sense in the head realizes that. and that guy suzuki is an average driver at best and no nordschleife expert, if it was that belgium dude who got the first records with the r32/33 maybe i?d give some credit to it, but if it wasnt him, i dont buy it. when i see a sportauto test, von saurna, or some other trust worthy party doing a back-to-back test on a deserted dry ring then i?ll believe their times.

P.S: for you GTR fanboys, dont think what im saying is sour grapes. those were gone when i found out the GTRs engine was designed and developed by Cosworth and its suspension by Lotus... so in the end, either way - EUROPE RULES!!!

  2. the GT-R has not officially been tested by sport auto so far.

  3. at least were not cheaters.. cough cough nissan

  4. I don't care if you like the GT-R or not. It's your prerogative. But no one can deny the car is fast.

  5. I'm not denying it, but even though Porsche might be off I still doubt the 7.29 time. But we'll just have to wait for independent testes with non-press cars.

  6. But the GT-R has already been tested officially against the turbo by tons of other magazines, and it has come on top.

  7. But the Nurburgring is the only track that matters! DUH!

  8. Well, both Nissan and the GTR fans have made a huge deal out of the 7.29 time so it is interesting to see how fast the GTR will really lap the n'ring even if laptimes aren't the alpha and omega of everything car related.

  9. A Porsche product chief has accused Nissan of cheating to set the GT-R?s record-breaking lap time around the Nurburgring in April.

Engineers from the German sports car maker have been running tests at the ?Ring and could not get within 25 seconds of Nissan?s claimed 7:29 second lap time.

"For us, it´s not clear how this time is possible?", August Achleitner, product boss for the 911, told the Australian press.

"This wonder car with 7:29 could not have been a regular series production car? We imagine with this Nissan used other tyres."

Achleitner apparently said the GT-R# s time "which was set with ex-F1 driver Toshio Suzuki at the wheel - could only have been achieved if the car was running semi-slicks."

Porsche apparently purchased its own Nissan GT-R in the US and has pitted it in back-to-back tests against a standard GT2 and a 911 Turbo.

With Porsche´s driver behind the wheel "who wasn# t hot lap specialist Walter Roehrl", the GT-R apparently set a lap time of 7 minutes 54 seconds.

"On the same day, the 911 Turbo managed 7:38 and the GT2 clocked 7:34", Achleitner said.

Back in April, Nissan was keen to draw attention to the GT-R# s pace around the Nurburgring, with a lap time it insisted was set by a standard factory car.

But many commentators are sceptical about the value of comparing Nordschleife times, in case manufacturers have fettled with their car. (Autocar)

  11. how come the GT2 is just 4 sec faster than a Turbo ?

  12. slightly better power-to-weight ratio and handling

  13. yeah but the GT2 should be much much faster with more hp, less kgs , stickier tyres etc..

  14. the 997 Turbo isn´t that bad, a big step forward for a daily driver <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

  15. I think someone was talking out of his ass.

  16. it still got beat. the gtr fanboys are always bashing that the gtr can beat every high price supercar but when it gets beat they start bashing to wait for the vspec but face it gtr fanboys THE VSPEC IS NOT OUT YET!!!! i'm not going to wait for 2 more years for the vspec to come out and beat cars that were already out a long time ago. If the porsche and nissan released a new 911 turbo and gtr, the turbo would come out faster and better because the gtr didnt have the new turbo to benchmark in time. nissan always needs a benchmark because they dont know how to build a great sports car from scratch where porsche is always building cars that are always considered by many as the best from scratch

  17. "blah blah blah, my pussy hurts and is bleeding, blah blah."

That's all I got out of your run-on sentences paragraph.

  19. You should start writing books with that grammar of yours. Of course after you get off the rag.

  20. to be honest my professors have suggested that to me but i'm not into that unless its going to be about how rediculous some people can get when they are faced with reality

  21. "the gtr fanboys are always bashing that the gtr can beat every high price supercar but when it gets beat they start bashing to wait for the vspec but face it gtr fanboys THE VSPEC IS NOT OUT YET!!!!" Was the GT-R beaten by any of it's competitors? No.

"nissan always needs a benchmark because they dont know how to build a great sports car from scratch where porsche is always building cars that are always considered by many as the best from scratch". Dear lord. Almost every single car on the road had another car that served has benchmark.
