A Porsche test driver was killed on the German autobahn while testing a prototype for the next-generation 911 Cabriolet. The 51-year old crashed the 911 Cabriolet into a center guard rail of the A5 autobahn between Frankfurt and Heidelberg earlier this morning, dying at the scene.

Porsche said that that the driver, who had 25-years of experience under his belt, was part of a road endurance test in which three Porsche drives drove the car nonstop in shifts around-the-clock. Porsche spokesman Dirk Erat said that the company does not do any high-speed testing on open highways and that the cause of this morning’s crash is unclear.

A second Porsche driver was following the drive in a new four-door Panamera but was able to safely avoid the crash.

    Here is the pic.

  2. Damn, that looks like a nasty one
  3. R.I.P.

At least you can say he had the best job ever
  4. Huh. Seems those guard rails aren't bad just for us bikers, sports cars suffer from their low height?
  5. looks like he went under it...
  6. useless guard rail is useless.
  7. reminds me of the TT driver that also died
  8. sounds like a good way to die. testing cars. but at least the 911 Cabriolet will have excellent handling since they'll be able to use the data from the crash
  9. OLD
but this sucks for the family of the driver
but good for us we get to see things that we wouldn't have unless this happened
  10. Seriously, what a horrible guard rail. It's not as if 911s are even tiny cars.
  11. Ya wtf
  12. WTF? You think it's a good thing that we got to see that someone was killed in a terrible car accident?

    Stop posting FAGGOT n00b.

  18. its not tragic to die doing what you love
  19. he's 51, he might have left a wife and children. yes it is. in agreement about shitty guardrail, a 911 shouldn't go under one
  20. yeah
  21. I wonder what engine was in the car. its always sad to see someone die doing this sort of stuff. the guard rails they do nothing.
