that bit about "making the Dodge Viper the Fastest Production Vehicle on the Planet!" sounds good!

  4. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

yeah but will that 1700 hp viper be street legal?

  5. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

I doubt it. Most manufacturers think that 800-1000 bhp is mad, so they dont even make them. (for example TVR and their speed 12)

  6. Re:

indeed it will be street laegal and will b available to anyone who can afford it.

  7. Re: Re:

well Vipers ait all that expensive in america...but i cost nearly 2x that 2 get 1 into Australia!

  8. Re: Re:

now technically, couldn't you make any car, including drag cars, street legal (SMOG legal at least)?
Couldn't you just put 10+ catalistic converters and 10+ mufflers on a car or just keep adding more until it's smog legal?? <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>

  9. Re: Re:

    yeah...but whats "smog"...?

  10. Re: Re:

It's a combination of Smoke and Fog...hence Smog, which is created by all internal combustion engines, thus they have smog emissions, and cars have to be smog legal.

  11. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

yeah and the smog that you see coming out of 18 wheelers in because they have a lack of power. its a diesel motor. turbochargers can cure that though. i saw that on HPTV. they say turbochargers arent the best for the street. they say superchargers are. what does everyone else think?

  12. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

Indeed. I'd supercharge my car long before turbocharging it, because I wouldn't want to put up with any turbo lag. Once the boost is set too high, the car really isn't streetable (if turbocharged) simply because a sudden burst of acceleration catching you off guard in traffic is never a good thing.

Those 18 wheelers have up to 500hp, depending on the load they're carrying.

  13. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

indeed my friend. im not running down turbocharging or anything but its so dang expensive. when i get my 61 chev. fixed up im droping a 350 automatic in it. im considering a supercharger. but if i had the money i would go with a blower as well........<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  14. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

Well, the good thing about the 800tt is it have virtually no turbo lag, becaue it has such a high CI engine. If you notice, all the cars that have turbo lag, have small engines, porsches, supras, exc..
but this is a viper, the car that has the highest liter engine in the world for a car. And with that John Hennessey made the 800tt have no turbo lag. So it's like an N/A viper with 833hp.

  15. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

    thats why we love them.

  16. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

Ive got a question for everyone. If the viper has so many CI's, then why doesnt it have that much horse power? This is off the subject, but the SRT-10 has what? 8.3L's? And it only makes 500hp. And im not banging on the viper or anything, I love the car. But you can get a brand new Z06 with a 5.7L with 405hp. Somebody explain this to me! I wander what the viper could do all motor with the 8.3L's. Surely it could brake 600hp? I dont see why not.

  17. Re: Post any info. you have about 1000TT or SVSi TTRS

The people who argue HP/Lt. well, for american cars, that doesn't really apply to them.

Euro, and Jap cars are restricted to engine size for reasons including insurance. With these restrictions, engineers that make sports cars, have to produce cars that have good hp/lt.

American car makers don't have CI, restrictions for thier motors, so for power they do what they did like in the muscle car era, 'bigger is better'. back then, a 427 v8, make (from the factory) 425-430hp, a 426hemi made 425hp. Now you have the srt10 viper doing the same, 505ci motor that makes 500hp and 525lbs. torque.
As for the zo6 having 346ci and 405hp, well the basic and even 50th anniversary ones only make 350hp. But hennessey has made N/A vipers like the 500-650 venoms, the 600 & 650 having 520ci, but making 80-130hp more than the motors CI's.

So yes, vipers could and have broken 600hp, N/A.

But if you like american cars, then you don't care about hp/lt, and the fact that the vipers, vettes, stangs, and F-bodies followed the same engineering (pushrod engines) that the muscle car era cars did, that still makes them Muscle Cars.

    Also, for American sports cars, it's more like HP/CI (1hp/1ci), or HP/LBS. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

    I with you man!

Also large displacement usually means low end torque and a awesome sound.
