  1. 2002 911 v.s BMW M3

    i think the M3 is better and faster.

  2. 2002 996 911 Carrera coupe' (2wd):
    0-60 in 4.5
    187mph top end

    2002 996 911 Carrera cabrio:
    0-60 in 4.8 seconds
    187mph top end

    2002 BMW M3 Coupe':
    0-60 in 5.0 seconds
    155mph top end (electroniclly governed)

    2002 BMW M3 cabrio:
    0-60 in 5.3 seconds
    155mph top end (electroniclly governed)

    Where is the BMW faster??

  3. yeah dude where do you get youre numbers from (first guy), ohh yeah you forgot to mention that the 911 CAN be equiped with the GT2's suspension, and other goodies that help the handling, and the ceramic brakes, which are also on the GT2 to help it become the WORLDS BEST braking AND handling car.<!-- Signature -->

  4. The BMW M3 is nice. As said before it's more a fast sedan. Someone that wants to be a race car driver but has a wife and maybe two to three kids will like the M3. While the Classic 911 is a race/sports car at heart. Not so much as a fast family car. For 2002 the Carrera gets a 3.6L Engine and 320HP and a bump up in torque from 258Feet to 273Feet. Porsche also added the Variocamplus system redid the exhust system has more of a deeper sound.

  5. hmmmm sorry man but the 911 would waste the m3..i think you need to check the stats again.....

  6. Uhh yeah the 911 is better then the M3<!-- Signature -->

  7. no way is this porsche anything like its race bred brothers. Its totally diffrent. And the ceramic brakes? I thought they were only standard on the GT2 and an OPTION on the turbo.

    Your times for 0-60 have got to be weigh off. Tell me how a car with less power and close to equal weight is quicker. Not to mention the fact in Australia it costs an extra 60k over the M3.

    They recently ran performance car of the year here and the M3 outbroke the 911 GT2 from 100k. It stopped in 30.6 meters compared to the 911's 36.7 meters. So theres no way it stops quicker, I make that at 91.8ft to 110ft. Correct me if thats wrong.

  8. ill take the M3 ...... .2 or .3 seconds diff ... no big deal

  9. this would smoke a M3 without a problem

  10. Both are spectacular cars whom are very close in statistics. If you're curious why the 02' 996 runs just as fast (if not faster) than the M3, just take a look at the 996's torque vs. the M3<!-- Signature -->

  11. The M3 look exactly like a regular 330 besides the fenders. I would take a 996 which has a name for itself, it quicker, and im my opinion look much nicer. I have a cousin who owns an M3, while they are nice and everyone says that they are crowd stoppers, when it pulls up to a porsche, noone turs and says "look, it's a BMW"

  12. THe 911 is still better<!-- Signature -->

  13. m3 is better choice in Aus plus i like it better<!-- Signature -->

  14. Did you guys see what the M3s did to the 911s in the American LeMans Series last year? spankety, spank. They had to change the rules to keep the M3 off of the track this year, but they will be back next year to show the 911 drivers more tail-lights.

    Your right on the ceramic brakes only being an option on the turbo. But it's impossible to stop a road car from 100k in 30.6 metres man. Only racecars can get such short stopping distances so i'm sure it must have been 35 or 36 or so metres. Although i'm a big bmw fan there's no question that porsche makes the better brakes. But no one can even get close to bmw's straight-six.

  16. the new 996 carrera is a better race car, but the M3 is larger and more comftable. I have driven a 996 carrera and a 99 M3 both great cars but i would chosen the 911

  17. Still The 911 is better...<!-- Signature -->

  18. it depends on which 911. and which m3<!-- Signature -->

    These two cars have been pitched against each other in comparos time and time again, and the M3 seems to always edge over the line first, even though by a bee's foreskin. Not as fast, but not exactly a fair comparison either...Carrera's rear-mounted 6 and lighter body (hence a better power:weight ratio) help it out a lot. The M3 is said to have better handling, and IS faster around a racetrack...

    You can check out Motor Magazine at: http://www.motormag.com.au

    Also, in February 2002's issue of Wheels Magazine, which saw Porsche 911 Carrera vs. Subaru WRX STi vs. BMW M3, the M3 came out on top, despite not being the fastest in a straight line. Just goes to show, once again, that straight-line speed isn't everything. Not to say that the Carrera is a bad car though...I would own one any day of the week! It's just that for the price of a Carrera I could have an M3 and almost pay off a brand-spankin' STi with the change.

  22. Porsche 911 Carrara is fast but do you think that Porsche 911 GT1 can beat it? Yes, It can becouse the GT1 is so fast it can beat a Helicopter! A V10 vs V12! But a BMW M3 can,t beat the 911 Carrara

    Enzo Ferrari had a dream, and Dr.Ferniland Porsche crushed
