    Alright, lets take away upgrades. SLP makes SS and firehawk, while SVT makes the cobra. That leaves the Z-28, formula, and trans-am.

    GT: 260 HP

    LS1: 310 HP (w/ out ram air)<!-- Signature -->
     
  5. oh man 14.1 to 13.4 gosh big gap there, Cobra is 30 lbs heavier, 5 less HP, 33 less ft lbs of torque and its only that much slower? well well i think it would be mighty close if you added that much more to the Cobra and plus if Ford stays true to the 03 statistics of 350+HP 5.0 L then do some math and figure up a 5.7 L Cobra engine hmmmm even rumors of the 5.0 that they are working on is pushing 390 HP man oh man bye bye Camaro oh wait its their last year because they are selling twice as many mustangs as they are camaros and birds together geez and dont give me that bull about women just buying 3.8s when all there is are Cobras, and GTs at the drag here at night. And besides whos to say that a better driver cant get a sub 14 in a Cobra?     Give it up. There is not a .7 second gap between the 2001 Cobra and 2001 SS. Try .3 seconds. Even stock GTs hit low 14s.

    Sorry your facts are wrong. Ls1 engines are underrated, they put down 305-315rwhp and up to 330rwtq on the ground. This equates to about 360-370 at the crank.

    You may want to read (carefully) my post "F-Body v Mustang - The Facts".

    As for ford making a 5.7, well... there's a saying "Run what you brung and hope you brung enough". And right now Ford has not brung enough.

  11. Tell me something, since when have we needed a supercharger for power?
    Take the berger SS for example, 385 HP, 400 lbs of torqe, NO SUPERCHARGER!!! Ford needs a supercharger to get any power out of their crap engines.

    Motor trend when they compared a 2001 Cobra to the 2002 35th SS got a .2 difference in 0-60 and .3 in 1/4. You are thinking of the 99 Cobra whose power wasn't up to what Ford advertised. The 2001 was fixed and runs mid (to high) 13s. Even the new GTs get low 14s, what do you think, an extra 60HP increases .1sec

    The supercharger was added because Mustang owners (like myself) are tired of Ford being such pussys, particularly from 96-98 (except SVT), and finally ford went crazy and changed the block to Iron and added a supercharger. It was a good move that was a cheap power adder and the costs could remain where they were. Unfortunetly a 5.4 litre wont JUST plop under the hood of the mustang, and the way the shock towers are designed the 4.6L actually is a tight fit itself. It would require a whole redesign of the front of the car. This is not practical because the '04 model will be a new design anyway, the supercharged Cobra was to "hold us over" till then. And we are to expect a modular DOHC 5.0L about that time, and I have a feeling it won't need a supercharger. We'll wait and see though.
     
  16. I commend Ford for making the 390 HP Cobra (this summer, can't wait to see some real results not speculation) it is a great amount of power. There is no way that it is cheating, if it comes from the factory with warranty with that power that is just good news for car lovers. I am pretty certain that it will be a good performer, It will almost for sure be .2-.3 seconds faster than the Camaro 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. Maybe close to being on par with the Base corvette in the straights (not in the corners obviously). Looks like they fixed the power issues, now on to the comfort for tall people issue.... grrr.<!-- Signature -->

    plus it gives 15 extra horsepower on the dyno, the ram air isn't even used, the increase would be greater as your speeds increase

    I remember when ford actually had a 5.7.. what happened to that? ford may have a 4.6L with 320hp but it's also in the COBRA gee, there's just soo many of those around.. the GT has 260 (wow, you jsut lost 60hp) what's funny here is the GT is just plain crap the Cobra is a good contender to the z28, but it takes an expensive ass Cobra R to compete with the SS... by the way, the camaro and firebird are gone for a while due to lack in sales(yea, yea.. it sucks) ford has good sales going for their mustang because of the v6 not the GT, and especially not the Cobra.. and let me jsut get out there what everyone probably already knows a mustang is alot cheaper(and built that way too) than the camaro, more reason for better sales of the mustang... too much rambling for me here..
