Correct. The impala ss should have stuck around long enough to duke it out with the new marauder. It might have been still in production if those damn SUv's havent taken over the automobile market. The 96 impala ss wouldn't stand a chance against the marauder because the marauder has 40hp more than the ss.

    Roll Out!!

yes 40 more PEAK!!! HP and 35 lbs less torque. Plus there midrange sucks and they have a better drivelin than us which is sad.

Guess what, the results are in the votes have been counted and the Marauder is slower than the SS. with a 15.7 in the quarter vs 14.8 and a slolom speed of 57 vs 68. 43 Years to dethrown the car that started the performance sedan market back in 1958 and Ford has yet to do it. There were plans to continue the Impala. In 97 silver would have been added to the selectable colors. And the following year the car was planning on a restyled look with the LT4 power plant to back it up. It was only produced in Austrailia and Saudi Arabia by GM's Holden brach as the Executive, more commonly known as the Caprice SS.

  3. I wish the impala would come back out also. With like a ls6 though have 405 hp and like 425 torque. That would be so cool.

  7. hey guys it is coming out, a rwd, v8, 6-speed Impala SS!!! GM is using the Opel Omega platform for this car, and will be based on the Aussie Holden Commodore SS. Check it out as the HSV VX2 GTS in raw production form.

  10. The Impala SS is more of a highway car yet it still wins in the 1/4 mile. It's got 30 more torque which is where it's at in the big body market. HP just starts to help in top speed, and the Marauder is limited to 115. Stock Impalas can break 140.

  11. that wud be coo

  12. Re:

Well guys I just found this site and I'm here to tell ya. That the Marauder is lacking. Hell, I have a 95 IMP SS and it still can beat new cars all the time.
The thing about the newer so called Impalas are that they suck. Cmon front wheel drive. Give me a break.
Then there's the thing about the Marauder on here, but not the Impala SS. What's up with that one. The Impala is not only a collectable, but also a powerhouse.
I'm done I just hope someone sees the light...

  13. Sorry but you are all wrong about the new Impala SS. Its going to be a supercharged V6 that is FWD. So in other words GM is making the same car with 3 different badges on it. The Impala SS, the GTP, and the new Monte Carlo SS will also be a supercharged V6 that is FWD. GM is stupid for doing it but oh well what can you do. But the worst part is performance wise its probably going to be faster then the old LT1 RWD SS's. You gotta love technology!

  14. I own an 03 Marauder. Not sure where u all get your info.A stock 03 is Heavier/Faster/Rides better etc... than any of the SSs. They r ok but can't compare.I made 4 passes after I thought it was "broke in".100% stock and varied from 14.61-14.82 and within 2 mph.Oh yeah,,,,I SURE HOPE a car that is over 1,000 pounds lighter is faster, that was to the Spec guy. u R spose to be A LOT faster.IF U dont know why, don't ask.I am not here to teach u.End Of Thread.
