1. Looks like they didn't need the M5, the 540 was faster than the XJR and 911 to 150 anyway! Thats pretty impressive man, braking distance on the Viper was pretty shocking, but I did notice the lack of ABS on it

Then that shows that your car's is inferior and has to have slicks to win...

  3. It doesn't need slicks. On street tires, it's already doing 10.7 in the quarter.

    LiquidChild:
Yes, the 540 Sport is a mad quick car. At the time of this test, though, I don't think the M5 was quite out yet, in our market anyway. Most tests show that a 540 Sport gives up very little to an E34 M5 (which had 310 hp in our market) in a straightline.
Yes, the test was designed to see how different types of high performance cars (be they saloon or coupes) compared to each other.

  4. First off sweden boy shut up all your saying is the 800tt cheated800tt cheated800tt cheated800tt cheated800tt cheated.
If ferrari wanted to do it they could but they dont because they would still not beat the 800. so dont say a bunch of trash with nothing to back it up because it goes like this

  5. Uh, you're actually way off on that standing mile figure.

I'll stand by the 3.21 sec 0-60 time. If anyone has times on street-legal slicks for another car, then I'll consider the 800TT with its ET's. 'Cept that Coletti Boss Mustang, that's just too crazy.

The main page? Dear, dear. I've just clicked on it and realized what all the fuss was about. Here's what it says:

"The 800TT viper conversion performed by Hennessey Motorsports yeilds one of fastest roadgoing supercars of our time. Twin Garett superchargers help to nearly double the the power of a standard spec GTS. An astonishing 830HP is realized with 725 of those horses making their way to the rear wheels.. A 2.4 second zero to sixty run was accomplished in the rain by an editor of Motor Trend. Although this figure is the most popular 0-60 time for this car, it was achieved using Thompson E.T. 'cheater' slick tires."

Some things right off the bat should confirm to all of us (once again) that many of the "facts" and "stats" on this site are bogus. Twin Garrett "superchargers"? Last time I heard this car was called the 800TT. Not 800TS.
830 hp? How come in the specs right below it, they mention 800 hp? And Motor Trend, the mag that did the testing, specifically states 833 hp in its article. Which you can read right here:
    http://www.motortrend.com/june01/ttviper/ttviper_f.html
It clearly says only the standing mile was done on the rain-slicked roads.
When in doubt, go to the source.

  7. Yup, I got the issue. I might add that the standing mile test was only run once. If this thing was geared for the 1/4 mile, than with taller gears this thing would top that Calloway Vette, or anything else you throw at it, including the not yet 'officially' tested Bugatti Veyron.

Woooow www....I am not a Ferrari representative or anything..my name dosen't have anything to do with my beliefs...

You can't compare this to a stock F50 because they aren't in the same class...Maybe the Koenig F50 is also a modified car...so that is in the category with this car...

I dont have to prove anything...I am just getting people insight to this...

There are plenty of shows like Ferrari victory by design on speedchannel...

Their accomplishments speak for themselves ..I never saw Victory by design Dodge on there....so Ferrari dosen't really need to speak about anything...

  9. I think that might be because there's already enough Dodge coverage with all of those NASCAR and Winston Cup races. Plus the My Classic Car and Hot Rod shows.

  10. Hmmm...Go #40 Sterling Marlin!!!

He drives a mighty fine Dodge, for Chip Ganassi Racing, which races everything, including F1.

Yo Guibo, got that Car and Driver issue with "Dr. Yes and the Mad Ferarri's"? I'm looking for it but it had twin-turbo Testarossa and F50? 800 hp doesn't work to well on those delicate Ferarri chassis...if you find it, try and post 'um, give these boys a culture shock!

  11. Holy shit! A turbo on a 15 year old car didn’t work too well? How embarrassing! LOL. You bring some dumb points to the table. Think of the age on the car.

And we are not the ones saying “this can take the F50”. Others have brought it up. I’m just tired of it.

    Where was the derogatory stuff?

As for proof, I have seen numerous sites that state the Diablo Coatl capabilities and so have you. If that’s not good enough I’m not surprised. But do you really think that they were produced and sold without being tested? Those numbers came from somewhere. But I’ve understood by now, unless Motortrend or Road & Track say that the Diablo Coatl, Gemballa, or VTTT are faster you won’t believe it. I don’t care. They are faster. So are other cars.

  12. Yeah, all of those sites lead back to the one Lambo site referencing an unnamed French magazine. In other words, NONE of those sites have tested the car.

If Sport Auto have tested the car, post the result. If EVO, TopGear, Auto Motor und Sport or Autocar have done it, post the result. If ANY magazine for which we have verifiable proof has tested this car for any of its performance claims, post the result. Doesn't matter if the magazine is German, French, American, Canadian, Dutch, or from the UK. As long as they've tested and verified the performance claims. So far, you've provided absolutely nothing. And that's exactly what those claims mean. Nothing.

  13. And was that car running on treaded street tires? Catalytic converters? Road-legal muffler?

    Learn your stuff, LOL!!!

  14. You told the Dauer is a race car , you were wrong.
You told it's a Porsche , you were wrong.

You'd better learn more about the 962 before opening your mouth wide.

You just don't freakin' get it do you? I'm not saying this is the world's quickest car over the quarter mile or whatever. Show me where I said that. In fact, I've already posted videos of a Lingenfelter Corvette burning this car's best time.
Also, where did I say this was a stock production car? I already KNOW this car is tuned, LOL. My question remains: what is the lap time for the Dauer 962? Who did the testing of the car? 0-100?

Sure, tuned Supras are impressive in the quarter mile. But what kinds of times do they pull on pump gas, without NOS, and on stock tires? Are those sub 10-second Supras on stock internals, and running 8-12 pounds of boost? And have you seen the hp and torque curves of those monsters? Try putting that kind of hp down in a turn on a road course. Speaking of which, if American cars are so bad at turns, how do you explain the road course results below?

So, a car that loses to a tuned Supra in the quarter mile is a piece of garbage? Any car that loses to a Dauer 962 on a road course is garbage? Despite what you might think, the nature of your posts here tends to support that claim.

If you look at www.turboimports.com the supra runs a [email protected] on a stock bottom end...Pistons, crankshaft etx...

I can't find the numbers but to run that kind of HP out of a 3.0L supra they would probably be running about 25 PSI...

My uncle has a 944 turbo..he is in the PCA...he has it dynoe'd at about 430HP...he runs 16 PSI...so I would expect that this supra is about 25 PSI...

And yes they can't run that kind of HP on pump gas this is true...but I wouldn't expect that much from a 3L engine...a 8L engine can make that kind of HP much easier...the 3L engine must have much much more compression to make the HP...without better gas the gas can predetonate and could cause some damage...

  17. I can't believe people are still comparing this car to stock cars like the F50. To me that's a sign of defeat in itself. You want to bring up stock competition it better be to a stock RT10 or GTS. The 800TT wouldn't do as well with modified Diablos though would it? Grow the hell up. You guys are comparing a natural runner to one on steroids. It makes no sense. Sad thing is, there are stock cars that could also take this. Look at the Diablo Coatl, look at the Speed 12 by Cerbera. The Veyron will moret han likely top this too. All stock cars. It's sad how so few admit that.

  19. Yeah, no kidding. That sounds like a double standard. But wait! Ferrari fans are incapable of double standards. Oh well...

Top speed of the Coatl? Where is it proven? You make the claim, you prove it. References to a Lambo site in turn referring to an unnamed French magazine don't count as proof.
Ditto the Cerbera Speed 12. We've already got 3 different dyno tests on the 800TT. And even more videos of it running down the dragstrip. We have yet to see even ONE documented road test of a TVR Cerbera Speed 12. There's not a shred of evidence to its performance claims. Not yet, anyway.

  25. Now, you're really starting to sound confusing (or is that confused?). I said:
"'Never'? LOL. How do you explain the SportAuto SuperTest where they compared the 996TT, 360 Modena, UK-spec 411-ps Viper, and the Lamborghini Diablo? Or how about this, from evo's (UK) Used Car Guide on the Viper and Corvette:
"Back in evo 22 the Viper GTS slugged it out with Porsche 996 Turbo, Ferrari 360 Modena, Lamborghini Diablo, and Pagani Zonda. The fact that it cruised down to Italy to meet this formidable group showed how useable the viper is. And at the end of the week, no-one doubted its speed, or its immense character."

    And then you say:

Quote from gsolinas
Notice they didn’t put the GTS or ACR with cars in a smaller class!

So, then you're admitting that the 360 Modena is no longer just the "little Ferrari", but it is in fact in the same class as the Viper? You clearly stated that it's not in a "smaller class", did you not?
