Re: By far the best car in Gran Turismo 2

  1. how do you get the toyota gt one on gt2. I have played for upwards of 300 hours and won every race in the game but still dont have it. Oh yeah with the R390 GT1 i average 1:12 second laps with some going as low as 1:10 seconds.

  2. Umm... Stu... how did you get a Polyphony 001? I'm pretty sure you aren't just shitting me because, if Polyphony Digital (the developers of GT) DID put the car in there, they wouldn't have misspelled their own name and put it on the car. Please gimme some info on secret cars in GT2... StaindSoul513@aol.com

  3. Does it have anything to do with the Event Generator???

I was reading this about the R390 being the best car in GT2 so I thought I'd try it out. I used the racing models for this comparison because they are faster and if you don't own them you haven't got very far into the game. This is un-bias and un-practiced.

    R390 GT1 LM Race Car '98
    Special events>GT All Stars>Laguna Seca
    best lap: 1:13.051
    race time: 6:30.388

Special events>GT All Stars>Red Rock Valley
    best lap: 1:04.067
    race time: 5:35.593

    GT-One Race Car '98
    Laguna Seca
    best lap: 1.10.285
    race time: 6:12.201
    Red Rock Valley
    best lap: 1:01.422
    race time: 5:41.732

I found that the Toyota is actually much faster once I got use to it. Its just that it requires far more skill to drive than the Nissan. Just now was the first time I had played the game in months but I've probably played more hours than the person that started this thread. I'm on day 937 and I've started over 3 times. I have 4 memory cards with full garages.

BTW: The hill climb cars are faster but in real life pikes peak cars only go about 130 mph due to low gearing. For that reason I won't use them in anything but rallys on GT2 or GT3. Also, the fastest car in GT3 is the F094/H, in my opinion.

The Gt-one road car is faster(the one you buy for 1,000,000Cr) jus put stage 4 turbo and itll be 975hp, for much less than the escudo.

  5. stu: ive heard off a secert superbike on it as well. i don't no if it is true thought

  6. umm...... the porche turbo r has the best accelartion actually but the escudo does get the best allround

No Way! Tuned ups Toyota GT1 and Jaguar Xj220 are the best!

no way the escudo is the best overall car in gt2 the xj220 dosnt go more than 388kph... theres a rx7 that outruns it (391kph) in gt2

  8. my favorite car in gt2 with the r390 I smoke the gt one at laguna seca and any track good turning and speed the scudo sucks turnig at high speed.

  9. How is a car forum a gran turismo game forum? When did it happem? I would like to know?
And for everyone talking about the game the best car is the suzuki pikes peak.

  10. I agree with it being the second best in the game but the best car in gran turismo 2 is the HKS Drag 180sx i have had it going in upwards of 270mph believe it or not! its one nice car good acceleration etc. except for the handling i guess thats why its a drag car

  11. While the Suzuki Escudo is undoubtedly the fastest car in the game, it is not the best. It is too fast for small tight tracks, and at high speeds, it can't turn for shit. Even with heavy braking and super soft slicks it is a work out.

The Nissan R390 is really one of the better ones, if not the best itself. The range of horsepower available is like from 300 to 900. You can enter it in virtually every race, and even when tuned to low HP, it still blows away most cars. Handles like a dream.

The racing version of the R390 isn't as fast as the normal version. the R Modified R390 only gets like six hundred and some odd horsepower, where as the street version can be tuned to over 800.

The TVR Speed 12 is really #$%#ing fast once you learn how to drive it. I think that it is probably the hardest car to use.

The Ford GT40, not the one you can buy but the R Modified version that you win, is also another one of the better cars. Really fast and stable.

The Shelby Series 1 is pootz. It's just not that fast.

The XJ220 is ok. It's fast, it handles ok.....nothing special.

If you buy a Ruf CTR 2 and tune it up to hell it is absolutley great. You couldn't spin that car if you tried. Balance and precision. And speed enough to battle the GT All Stars.

The Team Oreca, the STP, and the Taisan Vipers are absolutley great. For all their power, they still handle very well.

The Skylines suck. They are good cars, but there are just too many of them. I'm sick of them. I hate Skylines in Gran Turismo. I sold all of them.

  12. I'm just being curious here but what is your highest topspeed you ever had...mine's is the 240sx drag that did 271mph before crashin in the wall on the testtrack.

Yes, I know that I have spent too much time (about 150 hours) playing the game, but this car can be entered in most of the races when you swap out the turbochargers, and dummy-down the performance enhancements for the lesser races. Even though mid-engined, rear-wheel drive cars are notoriously squirrely at low speeds (and even high speeds sometimes) this one's nose is glued to the track at all times. It is lighter than most other cars, and even with a 100+ horsepower disadvantage, this will still whoop almost all other cars' asses on the track. Nuff' said.

I prefer the Toyota GT1 pushed at 975HP or the Escudo

  14. The R390 Gt1 racecar is awesome (I don't like road cars) but it is not the best, neither is the escudo. I haven't tried the GT-one race car yet. So far the fastest car I drive in the game is the Elise GT1 race modified, At Laguna Seca after about half an hour of tweaking, I turned out a 1:09.913. Escudo has too much understeer. The Elise GT1 is THE hardest car to drive around a track in GT2. Try it around Trial Mountain, brutal!

  15. I have to agree with vipers on this one the escudo pikes peak is bye far the best car in gt2 while running twin engines (1 @ the front 1 @ the rear) this car is near unbeatable

  16. you should buy a car and tune it totally up
DAMN i'm addictet to that game!

  17. elitewolverine, i think you are lying a little bit, unless you have some very good codes. if you aren't lying, could you please post the settings for the r390? in my opinion, i think that the tvr cerbera lm edition is the best car. i have two games on different memory cards, and they are both over 1000 days, and so far, it turns in the best, has great acceleration for its horsepower, and handles like a dream. another great one is the viper gtsr team oreca. that car is phat. the gt1 is just crazy. i have faster laps in the gt1 than with the r390, but it is a very good handling car for not having adjustable suspension. (road car.) as for the sr widebody, it is just alright.

  18. on gt2, i had my second car (3000gt) up to 632.4 miles per hour, i just cant drive this car anymore, it wont turn, i saw something on the net saying it was a bug that happenened with this car and supras, anyway up to 400 its quite normal , xept that it wont turn even if you get all your family on your pad, but after 400 the nose of the car gets up and you get ur 632.4 mph with no wheels touching the road!!(saw it on replay).after 632.4 u get in wut i call the "rewind" mode, you just cant read your speed, your not controlling your car, and your going backward.anyway i never heard anywone else to have this happened so i though it would be interesting

  19. All I have to say is that there is no best for everyone, it's all in what you "make" to be the best on each one of our games. On MY game, I have tuned the Escudo to be the best on MY game. It turns on a dime without ANY, I do mean without ANY slippage whatsoever. Also, on MY game, the R390 GT1 road car '97 is the second best on MY game. The reason why the R390 is so terrible at turning when you first get one is because it requires you to make specific tuning to making it turn better. The reason for this is b/c it is too powerful for it's suspension and structure and it cant slow down by itself like the other cars on the game. I got to learning to actually use my breaks on the car more in races, and it does help to use them once and a while. Either way, it's all in how you make the cars the way you make them to be in the way you drive and tune your cars.

    Peace.

  20. Neo WTF!!!!! 600 mph just doesnt happen, Ive raced almsot EVERY car in the game under diff settings and full modifications... The FASTEST car is the TVR Speed 12 it can make 270 mph... and thats puchin the limit... Suzuki Escudo peaks at about 268 mph... To test ur cars top speed take it into leguna seca got to the gate right behind the finish line in two player mode (the car u wanna test and a fast car to bump it) put ur test car against the gat then ram it like hell with the other car... then usin ur test cars controller wiggle it around. U will be able to leave the track... Out here u can run ur car to its limit without any turns or obsticles... that is all.

The GT1 Oversteers to much, the R390 is perfect, it has so much torque that you only ever have to drop down to 3rd,

  22. Yep i agree this car is best by far when u improve engine lower weight, new suspension tires, flywheel. it's very very #$%#ing nice and by far the best, but i also liek the racing version it's got not as much power and weighs more, but it gets a much higher max speed and would kick the standard versions arse in a skilled race.
But i do wish this car i have a picture of was in the game, 0 - 100km/h (60mph) in 3.0 seconds

  23. my best speed in gran turismo 2 pal version is 421 kmh with a toyota gt1, 410 kmh with a nissan r390 gt1, 404 kmh with a suzuki escudo and 397 kmh with a tvr speed twelve......

but my best cars is a toyota supra and nissan skilyne!!!!

    i second that

  25. yeh but the escudo is for rallying, this is a street car
