Re: I LOST A RACE WITH AN S2000!

  1. Were they parked?

  2. Because they are supposed to be in the same car class. WE say that just to illustrate how great the S2000 is.

automatics better for quarter mile? um, I really don't think so. i used to run quarter miles next to my friend w/ a 95 neon (i was racing in my every day driver, 1989 Saab 900 S - 116hp). He has 150hp and loads of more torque, and his car is smaller and lighter than mine. yet i won every time. (and we have had similar track experience). back to the point, I don't think that how fast a car is depends on where it is made. Every car-making country makes fast cars (now even some of you "pro-american-car" guys will have to admit that).

Czechoslovakia does not make fast cars.

And lay of Seansvette for driving an automatic, the problem with corvettes is so many of them are bought by lazy mid-life crisis people that want automatics because they don't feel like shifting. so unless you have the cash for a new one it's hard to get a manual. My friend had trouble finding a C4 with a stick. Now there's a guy committed to speed . . . he joined the army instead of going to college so he could spend the money on his vette. 4. Ha ha ha... the Army are a bunch of PUSSIES. Marines are REAL men... 3 months at Fort Sill... 200 Devil Dawgs and 20,000 Soldiers. I'll never forget the look of pure fear in their eyes...

  5. if you lost and you were using a corvette you probably weren't goig that fast.

  6. Oh my God, not again...

  7. Why are you guys so hard on each another.

  8. You wanna race my S2000 on foot? That would be sight. LoL

  9. Did someone here say that they spent money on a mustang? If that is the case, i am truly sorry, and may whatever god you berlieve in have mercy upon your twisted soul

  10. Well thank you. I appreciate the compliment.

  11. throw all the stats at me you want, i expect them (esp. from ppl who love dissing us jap-car drivers) there are good reasons for our love of the japanese car over the american car. first off, how much of that 360 hp from that mustang of yours actually ever makes it to the wheels. and i wanna see this thing take a new stock japanese supercar (since we have moved on to comparing new american cars w/ old japanese cars) on the road course. lets see how well that mustang stacks up then. just once i wanna see a stang take a 3000gt turbo. HAHAHAHAHA! and since you ppl like to throw saleens at me all the time, i have to tell you that saleen is its own company. so we also need to bring in the blitz skyline (850hp), the stillen 300gtz (450hp) or a 700+hp sgp 300zx TT. and as for the cobras, fast cars, but the don't even compete w/ american competition, much less foreign. i wanna see this thing take euro's (like slk AMG, 3.2 BMW Z3, porsche boxter). don't get me wrong, i like american cars. i just have a problem w/ the vast confusion out there that a horsepower rating directly relates to how fast a car is, that is all.

  12. Why do people insist on making totally invalid comparisons? This is a ROADSTER the M3 Evo was a SPORTS COUPE...they're different types of car. In reality, it's even a stretch to compare the S2000 to a Mustang Convertible, which is a GT convertible, not a roadster.

The cars that this Honda should be compared to are cars like the Miata, the MR2 Spyder, the Z3, the Z8, the TT, and the SLK. Compared to these cars, it blows away all but the Z8 and would be somewhat stiff competition for the soupped up Z3, the M Roadster, and the AMG-modified SLK32. The cheapest of these cars is the M Roadster which is $15,000 more than the S2000. AMG's machine is $10,000 more than the M, making it very close to twice the price of the S2000. The Z8 is priced in Ferrari territory, so it is unlikely that anyone shopping for one would give the S2000 even a cursory glance.

The TT is comparably priced and fairly nice with its fancy four wheel drive, but it is slower to 60 and through the quarter mile, and it has poor high-speed handling (even with the factory spoiler and suspension upgrades).

The Miata and the MR2 are about $10,000 less than the S2000 and would be put to shame by the Honda on the road or on the track.

So, for a perfomance roadster, the S2000 has great "bang for the buck." It is, however, still a roadster, and thus should not be put up against high-performance sports cars, muscle cars, or exotics. If I was in the market for a roadster, this would be the one I would get, even if I had $60,000 to throw into my new toy.

PS-If there are any other roadsters that you think should be compared to the S2000, post them and we'll work it out.

  13. No way would one of these give an M roadster or AMG 32 a run for its money. There nice cars and all, but lets not get too carried away, listing a Z8 in there is a bit over the top. Its like comparing a Ford sedan to a Bentley. The Z8 is the most advanced convertable in the world.

I think its nicely priced and suits its function well but it would never worry an M roadster driver. I beat one of these in my 12 year old Liberty RS when I had it. Easily. For the money though, they do offer good bang for your buck. Honda got it right with the rear drive layout too

I know the M and the AMG would beat the S2000, but at least they're in the same class. The S2000 has significantly less horsepower and torque than either of them (about half the torque and 2/3 the hp), but it also weighs less than either of the other two. The S2000 handles better than them also: the BMW is known for too much dive and excessive oversteer, while the Benz is fairly neutral but just can't get the same traction through a corner. I would say that at a fairly curvy track with short straightaways, a place where the M and AMG were running about 5' with 5" diference between each other, the S2000 wouldn't be more than 10" behind that. That was a complicated example, but I think it shows what I meant more than my initial description did.

The Z8 is just another car in the roadster class. It is more valid to compare the S2000 to a Z8 than to a Viper or a Mustang.

  15. I LOST A RACE WITH AN S2000!

That's right. I can't believe it. I raced an S2000 and just barely lost. After the race I was tired as fxck from sprinting 1/4 of a mile without stopping.
I think maybe I need to start jogging at night again. I'm sure if I get myself in better shape I'll be able to out run one of these.

  17. That is FUNNY SHIT. One tried to race me on my street bike... but who can beat a BMX, really?

  18. LOL thats still damn funny. i know what you are implying, so go put this thread in a domestic forum. but still, LMAO!

  19. Wow, that's about as insulting as sticking an Automatic in a sports car like a Corvette. Guess that's why you were running, you can't drive!

  20. Yeah, they offered the Porche in automatic this year too... and both cars are faster than this one, ooohh...

  22. which porshce? i didn't think they offered an automatic for the GT2. BTW, styling is a matter of opinion, and i lost most of my respect for porsche design when they got rid of the gorgeous 993 and replaced it w/ the butt-ugly 996. any boxter will lose to this car. I have beaten 2 boxters and a Boxter S in my S2000, all three of whom thought as you people did.

Why does everyone on the S2000 board think that beating a Porsche Boxter is some great accomplishment? Boxters are total slugs, everyone knows that.

  24. And WE say that you Imports can go ahead and fight amongst yourselves, 'cause you still can't beat Domestics (Ford Lightning, SLP Camaro SS, Firehawk - all same price range, all kick this cars ass in every way).

  25. let me guess, you were in something that was american and automatic?
there's a big advantage in a close ratio gearbox and knowing how to use it!

lost to a ricer eh - don't worry its a common occurance. of course s2000 is the fastest of the 4-bangers but its surprising how often they take out much 'bigger' cars.
I drive a turbo car and I have a hard time keeping ahead of riced up VTECs driven by rich imigrants (of course only if i'm on low boost or something! )
