2. I see no one posted a link showing this car run high 12's.

    no, it can't.

Yes it can. It ran a 12.9, that should make it just as fast as the camaro ss, and for less money. Camaro ss, $32,000. Mach 1, $25,000.

CAMARO SS IS 28,000 dollars. for a scant 600$ more you can get the quad exaust option, which takes the 0-60 time to low 12's, from what I hear.

I have seen lots of camaro ss's, and I have yet to see one below $32,000! Hell the z28 cost $27,000, you really think that they would only charge $1,000 more for the ss?!? The cobra (2001) and camaro ss are about the same price, both $32,000.

  4. new Mach 1 1/4 times

At the FUN FORD WEEKEND The 5-speed MACH1 produced a best run with street tires with a 13.41 second pass @104 MPH and the automatic MACH1 put out a best run at 14.03 seconds @99 MPH.
WITH SLICKS the 5-speed MACH1 for this occasion and pulled out a whopping 12.97 second pass @104 MPH! The automatic also achieved improvement producing a 13.92 @99 MPH!

12.9's at 104? Yeah the times are nice, but the speed blows! I've got my car to run a 13.1 at 107! And I raced it twice, cuz I have the original Tranny in my 89 IROC! I'm 100% sure my car could beat 12.9's but I don't want to risk it right now, I'm gonna rebuild the tranny, But it really went 12.9's on slicks huh? The MPH could be higher though!

  6. Just goes to show that a puny 4.6 liter engine lacks torque and high end nut. Ford will never have something like the LS1 engine

  7. I must say, the Mustang will never have anything on the Trans Ams or the SS's. And don't bring up the Cobra R, cuz its not even in the same ballpark. The Cobra R runs with the Z06 and has no comforts, not even AC or radio, so don't even bring it in the comparo.

The new cobra will run circles around the firebirds and camaros, period. This mustang might be a tad slower (we'll have to what for some real numbers), but even if it is, it has tons more styling and personality. Camaros and firebirds are great, but they are not winning the war right now.

Ford does not want something like an LS1 engine they are moving away from pushrods and have been for some time now. If anything ford wants the 5.4 DOHC, they already had the 351.

13.4 with unfavorable conditions (heat in the 90s) is not fast enough to beat a z28? hmmm

    Not my Z28
Is that how they really tested it though, in those conditions? Seems ignorant if you ask me!
Still couldn't beat me. I do wish that sc.net would show a picture of the rear of this car seeing how that's what makes it significantly different than the others, do you know any good sites with a better variety of pictures?

  14. if this car can pull this number, the cobra whitch said to go at around 110mph in the courter i got to see that time, specially with slicks.

  15. What is ignorant of me rustangs? New z28s don't run 13.15 like you do.

  17. WTF 30-40,000? Shutup. It will be about 25k to fit inbetween the other mustang models: the GT and Cobra. Under NO circumstances would it be more than 30k.

Dude, really now, you think that this car will be $30-40,000? Hell, even the 2003 cobra won't be that much (around 34,000), so how will this car be more? It should cost around $25-27,000, which is the same or cheaper than a z28.

Hoseman read more carefully, I didn't say you were an idiot, I'm just saying testing a car a those conditions is ignorant if you want the cars fullest potential. That didn't include you did it? Sorry if you misunderstood me man.

  20. I get you rustangs,
I think that it was planned for fun ford weekend and they weren’t going to no-show for some heat. That’s what I think, I’d like to see what it runs in good conditions though.

nice. a site that is totally bias against GM. Of course a site called "stangnet" will give it higher ratings. Show me popular mechanics, car and driver, or any other neutral respected publishing. The Mach 1 is heavier with less hp than the SS, so by deductive reasoning I can logically throw an acumen protruding my worries of your "stangnet" website.

Theirs more to speed than just peak hp and torque. If you car had a peak hp of 500 but only hit 500 at 6500rpm and the rest of the rpm band it was only 120hp, yoou would have a slow car. Thats how this car can be fast, it might be only 300hp (which is alot), but it has a better power band, more power through out all rpms. See, it is very possible that this car is that fast.
As far as stangnet, they are not owned by ford, so they really have no reason to lie. And even if it was ford, why would they lie, just to piss of their loyal customers? No. On chevys own website they say the z06 ran a 0-60 in 3.9sec. Yet you probably belive that don't you?
They could be fibbing to, (I doudt they are, I'm just making a point).
