  1. Actually the BMW 5.0L V8 (302 cu in.) is .1 cu in. more than the Ford 302 (301.9 cu in.), if you want to get nitty gritty. But a Ford V8 that is 14 cu in. smaller than the BMW 5.0L V8 (Namely the Ford 289) can be naturally aspirated to 500 HP @ 6000 RPM.<!-- Signature -->

  2. No Subject

    ford sucks

  4. Ha ha, nice argument. BMW is better though

  5. Ford cannot compare with BMW... there's a certain sophistication blended with power and poise that BMW posesses but Ford yearns to get close to.

  6. plz post proof the bmw engines are supurior to any engine besides just a ford.

    i can go say a ford engine is better or a lotus(which is a ford), or ferrari or this company and that.

    u have no way to back it so all i can do to argue is that:

    bmw sucks :p<!-- Signature -->

  7. by the way, lotus is not a ford, it's a lotus. It uses Lotus componets and a Lotus Engine, built in England. And i was merely voicing an opinion, not a statement of fact.

  8. ford just owns the company... just like they own Aston Martin, Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo, but non of these are Fords.

  9. BMW has two of the best engines in the world, IMHO. The 3.2L I6, 333bhp, found in the E46 M3 pure magic, and the 5.0L V8, 394bhp found in the E39 M5. 1 cid smaller than the ford 302, but puts out almost 400bhp, N/A. Both have extremely impressive smoothness and power across all rpms.

    So does GM!<!-- Signature -->

  11. First of all, nobody said engines, we are talking companies here. And the guy talking about that 289, well that is incredibly modified, you could take the BMW M5 V8 and be only 106 horsepower away from that figure NA off the showroom floor.

    But we are not talking engines, we are talking cars. And BMW has the best handling, steering, acceleration per horsepower, refinement, style, reliability, etc. etc.

    Typically Ford has been known to make many sales and lots of money, but everybody will admit that the quality is no near BMW. This was ok though, because they were getting a bargain and Ford was making money.

    Now, Ford is losing money rapidly, closing plants, laying off thousands of workers, and there cars still suck. So who is better, BMW is.

  12. I don't think Ford is trying to compete with BMW. Why not Jag vs. bmw? That would make a LITTLE more sense... <!-- Signature -->

    Actually LechoZX brought engines into this discussion, but since you want talk about companies and reliability. J.D. Power and Associates did a survey of hundreds of thousands of car owners in the US. Asking them how many problems their car currently had. BMW averaged something like 3.2 problems and Ford had 3.4 and Chevy didn't even place. Lexus took top honors with something like 1.01 with Porsche and Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar hitting 2s.

    We can all agree BMW blends luxury and performance so why don't you take rixochet's suggestion of comparing it to another company who blends luxury and performance, a Ford owned company, Jaguar. Wait, you don't want to? Want to continue picking on Fords? Why? Just because Jaguar has 3 more enteries in the best 0-60 list than BMW (Who has 0!)? Want to try on the 1994 Jaguar XJ220 S TWR, which is still smoking BMWs 8 years later?<!-- Signature -->

  14. Shit for 60 grand AUD you can get a nice Holden Statesman, 225kw 5.7 litre, LSD, trip computer, electric seats, great reliability and power, heaps of other features... Hmm.. what do get from BMW for 60 grand? A hell of a lot less... I know its Ford vs BMW, but the principle is the same.. ur paying for the rep and the badge.

    Not baggin beemers at all, just saying, its the name and reputation you're paying for.<!-- Signature -->

  15. As I understood it, Holden's were a POS over in Australia. Least that's what I understood from my Aussie friend, she drives a Holden Gemini and hates it.<!-- Signature -->

  16. for godsakes stop arguing over a pityful mustang. the only good mustangs, are the ones that came out of the 60's <!-- Signature -->

    For you to use Holden and Reliability in the same snetence we know for sure that its wrong. For 60 grand i would get the BMW with less features cause at least I know its still going to be rteliable after a few years.<!-- Signature -->

    Just look at the F1 engines of the two. The BWM engine is the best one out there. While the Jag just isnt up to par. <!-- Signature -->
