  1. I have one word for the haters in this forum: Penises. All you who say this car is ugly have absolutely no idea what beauty is. Take your friggin Lambo's and Ferrari's and shove them up your ass. Tell me why you don't like it. You say it is ugly with no reason. Are you retarded? Do you take retard pills? Do you take the little yellow bus to school?<!-- Signature -->

<b>What the hell? This car is definetely not a beauty. Nobody has even heard of it besides this and maybe a few other websites. It's just another damn prototype. This seems like a kickass deal but if it really existed, then why wasn't it put into production? Chevrolet doesn't take pride in this, but instead in it's C5Rs or something similiar. So I really doubt the specs.

I've never met anyone so ignorant. I've met people who were downright stupid, but none that said any load of BS like this. First, different people have different tastes in styling, and that's okay. But when critiquing its design, remember that this is an 80's design. Chances are, you won't find nearly as much 'good' looking stuff from the 80's. Second, You have no clue how many people have heard of this car. I think I would be pretty accurate to say that this car is hit very often on at least a dozen big sites, not to mention the smaller ones. Major US magazines did stories on this car. Think of all the car mod buffs that browse around sites for Lingenfelter, Callaway, Roush, etc. that have come upon this. This is a very well known car to those who really care about cars. Third, this is definately not 'another damn prototype'. This car was in the final production stage, ready for sale. I don't fully understand why, but nobody wanted to buy one. Sure, it was fast, but it wasn't a Ferrari. All the rich people who wanted the speed also wanted the image the everyone would recognize as one of the worlds fastest cars. Fourth, yeah, it was a kickass deal. One does exist, I'm guessing it's owned by Callaway. This car was put into production, but none were ever produced. Just because there weren't any more built doesn't mean it's not a production car. To turn a car production, there are certain things you have to do; one of these things is legally register for the go to build and sell them. Ironically, one thing you don't have to do to have a car as production is to actually produce more than one. Fifth, I'm sure that Chevy takes much pride in this. Of course that's silent pride; you don't want to brag about something that you didn't fully complete in a business like this. Have you ever seen Dodge, Ford, BMW, MB, or any other publically take pride in one of their hopped up cars? Probably not, if so, it's very rare. And of course they take pride in the C5-R. Chevy had the sole rights to the C5-R, and it's done very well. Sixth, these specs are real: http://www.callawaycars.com/Corvette/Sledgehammer/sledgehammer_article.htm A ten page report from a report that covered the story from top to bottom, including the actual test when it hit 254.76 mph. Try to deny that. Seventh, it's always wise to do a little research before you open your big, ignorant mouth. There are hundreds of people like me that can rip you down in an instant when we see a load like this. Show some respect for this car, 14 years later, and still nobody has touched this car. Eat Callaway's dust!<!-- Signature -->

  3. M360. Ok. You have a problem with homosexuals, I see. You also think that Italians do not make million dollar sports cars. Have you looked at the price tags of Lambos recently? Don't come to this site flappin your lips thinkin your Kingshit. You have done nothing to impress me.<!-- Signature -->

<b>ahhhh, ok all of you need the shut the #$%# up! first of all there are hardly any italian sports cars that are 1 million dollars, there are many but i wouldn't say that the average italian sports car is a million! and the mclaren isn't 2 million it's around 1,100 000 plsu taxes and shit! Also i think most people would agree that this is way uglier then a ferrari or lamborghini! obviously you guys can't see why it's so ugly becuase you own an ugly ass corvette so your used to seeing uglyness! lol and my other point is that ferrari and lamborghini's are excellent all round cars this car isn't and no hardly anyone has heard of it before, you know why, becuase this car isn't really a production car, only one was made. Also if your gonna say that if somebody wanted to buy this car for 400,000 dollars they could have but no one did, well that's bullshit how many millionaires are there in the united states and around the world? thousands, how many of them like to collect cars? thousands of them, so if you think about it, don't you think it's strange that nobody wanted the fastest street legal car EVER that has held the record for 14 years!!!! well think about that, i don't think this car was really offered for 400,000 dollars becuase if it really did, i'm pretty sure more then one would have been made! and yeah i guess it does deserve some respect and i think that this car is pretty cool to have the top speed record. so yeah it's a cool car but i wouldn't say this car is beautiful. </b></blockquote><center><hr width="90%"></center><!-- END QUOTE -->

Ok so you think its some kind of conspiracy?!

The car went up for sale for less then a year; Callaway also at this point was still developing a name for itself. Millionaires who have the money to buy expensive cars don't just want a car that’s fast, but they want a status symbol too.

If you want to believe it or not, this car was offered to anyone willing to put up the cash, I know it, and so does the rest of the automotive world.

As far as it's looks go, you don't like it that’s you're opinion, personally I think the new Lambos are ugly, so are Porsches, and good god I haven't seen a single Audi that I would consider good looking (the TT looks like a squashed beetle!). But that’s just my opinion..

And just remember this "ugly" car, put both Ferrari and Porsche to shame....

Ok your are plain stupid aren't you! so your saying that the new lambourghini's are 1 million dollars! ok well if i'm not mistaken the new murcielago has a base price of $273,000 US, the Diablo 6.0 has a base price of $275,400 US! add all the taxes and stuff and you get a price of around $300,000... hmmmm your right the new lambo's are 1 million dollars! how stupid of me... sarcasm* i think you should do some research yourself before you open your mouth at me stupid boy!

Vette1, i agree with what your saying but don't you think it's kinda wierd that no one wanted the fastest street legal car in the world! think about it, you know how many millionaires there are the collect cars, i'm pretty sure not all of them want to buy a car that represents their status! so if you think about it, it just seems wierd that no one wanted it... but anyways, i don't really think that this car puts ferrari and prosche both to shame, i mean of course they lost to the competition but callaway had more time and also i doubt ferrari totally focused on making the fastest car. Another thing, say ferrari, porsche, and callway were gonna compete in a top speed comptetion again... and say all of the companies focused 100% on creating the fastest possible car using the best of the companies' knowledge... which company do you think will win? i and as well as many other people would agree that porsche and ferrari can both create a faster car.

Also that's great if you think that those cars are ugly and i think some audi's and lambo's are too, and i don't have anything to argue about the looks, becuase's that's one's personal opinion so if you think porsches, lambo's and audi's are ugly, but what i gotta say is that i definatly think that the majority of the people would think that those italian and german sports cars are better looking than this car... but it was built in the 1980's and in my opinion pretty much all cars looked like crap back then! lol

  6. Show a little respect

For anyone who puts this car down because it's not a million dollar Italian sports car, you can kiss my ass. This is an American accomplishment and deserves respect. It is faster than the 2 million dollar Mclaren, and definitely has attitude. So I say to anyone who puts down an American icon at its best, "Go F*ck Yourself!"<!-- Signature -->

  7. And another thing. This car is 14 years old. And still the fastest. <!-- Signature -->

  8. This is the fastest M*th*r F*ck*r and best lookin car ever.

  11. "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder", ever heard this quote Clone of GSolinas....?

Don't be so quick to judge.<!-- Signature -->

  12. u need some pretty thick glasses to see this as beauty

  13. I could say the same about Audi, Notic, so again don't be so quick to judge.<!-- Signature -->

  14. i only like the R8 for their racing abilitties. not their line up of cars in particular.

  15. You're mostly right, except the McLaren F1 is $890,000, then another $310,000 for legalization modifications made here in the states. That totals to about 1.2 million (those two figures were approximate). But yes, this car was an amazing accomplishment for americans. 14 years later, someone has yet to beat this car's top speed and remain street legal. And the coolest thing about it was John Lingenfelter actually DROVE this car at 254.76 mph! Most other cars on the top speed list are just estimated, which doesn't count for old dog $#!+ in my book. For all they know, they could be over on their numbers 10 mph. Long live the Sledgehammer, Lingenfelter, Callaway, and all that is good in this world! Have a nice day.
