  3. you guys have chevy lover glasses clouding your perception if you think this is a rebirth of the GTO! it's a crap design with an LS-1 in it. the only saving grace here. but hey, you could drop an LS-1 into a honda accord coupe, slap on a shiny GTO badge and please you guys.

this car is an insult to true muscle car fans. GM has really outdone themselves with this screw-up.<!-- Signature -->

  11. Why must they kill off the firebird? Why couldn't they just keep both models running alongside each other? This is A LUXURY performance car, and we need something a little bit stronger to compete with the SVT. They could have slashed production of the firebird, so we would still have them.<!-- Signature -->

  12. This is familyish
and the power that you guys are talking about just isn't there
    350?
    blah
    it's no muscle car
i don't see brute force when i look at this car
"agressive" is used by every manufacurer on all their cars
the nose is still sooo pontiac
and yes family cars do come in coupe form
making a car a coupe SURELY doesn't make it a sports, super, or muscle car
ever heard of the accord coupe?
now some retard will debate that it is a sports car
but the term "sports car" is being used soooo often now, it's lowering the standard of what it actually is.
    so
this looks better than most pontiacs
    has more power than all
but it's still soo pontiac, familyish
and most importantly: american (that's a bad thing)
except when it comes to muscle
    which this car has none
therefore it's another not well thought out family car with more power than most <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

  14. The Mustang Has Always Sucked, And Will Always Suck Thanx To The GTO And The New Impalla SS. Though The Impalla Hasent Be Talked About Too Much, Its Coming RIght With Its Sister The GTO. The Sad Thing Abou The Stangs Is That Tey Have To Be Superchargd To Even Break 350HP. A Good Ol American Pushrod V-8 Will Out Power And Pussy Ass OHC V-8 Puts Ino Any Of Their Cars And Puts The Badge "Muscle Car" On. Face It Ford Fans, The Mustang Is No Longer Competition To GM Anymore. The 80's And Early 90's Are Dead. There Isnt A 5.0L V-8 For You No Mo! GM Is Finially Back Where It Belongs, A The Top. And The GTO/Impalla SS Combo Is Enough To Get Them There.

  15. All this talk of performance in family cars, isn't that what the GTO was about? V8 power, rear-wheel drive and four seats!
Some people like the Corvette, it's not practical for me, and if I wanted a car like that I would go for a Porsche 911.
I love the styling of the 2003 Cobra, but was very disappointed in the poor attempt to make it a muscle car with a supercharger. I think Ford could do much better.
Like I have said on the other lists, we can only speculate on what the new GTO will be like, but we do know that some will love it, and some will hate it. We also know that this car has to be right for it to be a success for GM. GM cannot just go and re-badge an import that's for sure!
I do believe the best discussions are yet to come when the car is released, then we can have some real fun on the testing tracks!
I just wish Ford had done a commemorative Mustang designed after Eleanor from the remake of 'Gone in 60 Seconds', now that would have been something,...why couldn;t they tune their V10 engine for that little project?!!!

  17. Someone wants a family car with an LS engine? Hmmm . . . Tried looking down-under? How about . . . Holden Commodore SS - 4 doors, 225kw; Holden Special Vehicles Clubsport R8 - 4 doors, 255kw; Holden Special Vehicles GTS - 4 doors, 300kw. All using the LS1 V8 engine in various states of tune, and all comfortably seat 5 adults.

These are all "family cars" - many doors, many seats, much space and size, as well as a very very great deal of muscle car performance. Not only straight line and accelerative, but also very good chassis balance and handling, which has always been a great weakness of American muscle cars such as Pontiacs, Mustangs, and Corvettes.

Your new GTO (Australia's current CV8) will be a very capable car, well able to out-handle most if not all current American muscle cars. And if you want a more powerful one, import one of our (Australia's) GTS Coupes (300kw), or wait for the 6.7L version sporting 400kw soon on it's way.

  18. you guys are a bunch of whiney little babies, i'm so sick of hearing about how a car has a supercharger or turbo. it wont matter when you cant keep up up the Mustang in your SS our this feeble attempt at a GTO. it doesnt matter how the power is made, only that it is made and is street legal/reliable. a n/a car is a good candidate for a forced induction system as lingenfelter and hennessy has shown us. cry on babies.<!-- Signature -->

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Quote from Hoseman: NO. No it wasn't.

    Big Daddy35 continues:

Well I don't know which former GM exceutives you have been speaking to, but it seems the WRONG ones that's for sure! Remember that the GTO was not a specific design car, it was an uprated LeMan's, which was a two-door family cruiser.

There is also no substitute for precision engineering and building a good strong engine rather than strapping on a turbo or Supercharger to make a poorly aspirated engine run faster. But it seems some poeple have no sense, that's why they drive slightly tweaked Subaru Imprezza's,.............hahahahahahahahaha
