  1. yeah the vette lost a lot of power in the 70 s
    thats why ive got a 390hp 327 from a 68 vette
    in my 79

  2. at least this car isnt some japaneese POS. at lest it has some power to it and it isnt some little 4-banger. this car kicks ass

  3. jsut to play devils advocate, the 02 Z06 was tested at 4.0 to 60 by car and driver, and i do not think that the cvonsistantly fastest of the testing mags Motortrend has tested it yet

Ok so thats not the point but the fact that people actually try to make out that this car handles at all is laughable. Round a racecourse or even just on the road a corvette couldn't even beat a lotus elise 190. For u dumbasses that means 190bhp.

I can't believe how overrated this is, so its lasted 50 years, big deal so has the mini. This is just a big crude car that chev made ages ago back when the vette could compete and did. Now this OTT pile of crap really needs to be laid to rest

Another one bites the dust. some people on here are very close minded. Even if you hate american cars you have to respect the 'vette.
it is for sure a World Class sports car. and as far as the lotus goes... they smoke a lot of cars in tight courses. that their bag.<!-- Signature -->

  5. My 'Vette swings fatter doughnuts than your Elise, TailGate...

  6. This is one of the few American cars I can respect. Though I really think Chevy should do a limited production of this in right hand drive if they plan this car to succeed in right hand drive nations.

  7. i am incredibly envious of you and your stingray. In fact i was about to buy a 73 with the l88, until well lets just say it was unfortunate. but at anyrate i love the vette new and old, and i wish to high heaven that i could have a 68-73 stingray, even though they took the front chrome off in 73 and the "hi po" l88 only had 250 some odd hp, i still want and drool over them

  8. Yes the ZO6 handled better than previous models. At least you agree that the old chevs looked better and were more original. This car is by no means world class and as for the handling, which idiot told you it handled better than the 190? for a start the 190 weighs only 650kg (1300lbs) and has a shorter wheelbase. Any1one of reasonable knowlege knows that vettes handle like sh*t. The exeption being the ZO6 and even that is by no means "world class".

  10. just ignore the comment made by the above incompetant baffoon

  11. sorry tailgate for flaming you but the elise doesn't beat this car in handling in any thing but the tightest racecourse and i mean tight . but that is only because it weighs almost exactly 2 times as much 3200 lbs to 1700 lbs.and second the vette is a worlds class sports car that is right WORLD CLASS!!if you don't like it fine just stay out of these posts they are obviosly not for you.

  12. the vette is a great car but i do perfer the 67' styling to n/e vette since, sadly i do think that the looks hav been down hill since then to its still a great car

  13. Tailgate? Is that is what up their ass? First off, the Corvette is a very very nice car. It sure beats the hell out of my 1992 Toyota Tercel. I'd rather take the Vette over the 190 anyday. Considering that for one, the Vette is more comfy, AND it also has a top. Don't get me wrong, I love the Elise, or anything that Lotus has to offer. It's just asswipes like tailgate give them a bad name.<!-- Signature -->

  14. i agree with ya JCstrykerRVD i have a couple of friends who have vettes and even one has 2000 there nice cars but they need to get a new body style

  15. I want to chip in and say that I agree that the styling plummeted after '67. The C5 is a HUGE leap over the C3 and C4, but I still dislike the car from many angles (especially the back...)

I don't think the C5 is overrated, but I also think the intervening years between '67 and '97 was a time when they were very overrated.

I like the color though... <!-- Signature -->

  16. I will give the vette this you get a good abng for the buck and they do have good handling I dont know what vette you were driving or what you were on when you drove it<!-- Signature -->

  19. Well, the Corvette is a great-looking car and all but I've been told by many owners that the quality is terrible. Some say their brand new ones are constantly in the shop for repairs and the cost of maintaining them is adding up. I'd love to have a C5-R though, but that's a completely different story.

  20. I think chevy shoulda brought out the tigershark for its 50 ann
not this thing. it is sweet and all but we are supposed to be celebrateing 50 great years sept for late 70's and early 80's looked good but no power i think Lutz made a mistake on this one <!-- Signature -->

I think there should be 100 post minimum or a 50 post minimum on starting threads. That would get rid of most of this crap.

This car handles quite well. Look at AutoX stuff. SCCA. They even out handle the Civics! (sarcasm) This is one of the best values out there for a sports car. Overrated maybe, but it rocks anyway you cut it.<!-- Signature -->

  22. thats a good idea about the posts, or we could start a retardation scanner test to get rid of som of these dumbasses

  23. the vette (non zo6) pulls .95 g on the skid pad and runs the slalom in 68 some odd miles per hour (half the topspeed of an elise) the elise last i heard only does .93 g on skidpadand 64 mph or so (not precise but in that range) on the slalom the elise handles tight corners well because of its relatively short wheelbase and its incredible light weight. and by dissing the vette your indirectly dissing lotus (they had a hand in the design of the c5 vettes).

You must be 'incompetant' if you think the corvette is worth a crap. The lotus would kick the crap out of it. This thing has a comparable 0-60, but the Elise has a skidpad of like 1.2. That is MUCH better than the corvettes .9x. And the Elise looks better. Of course, if you wanna put the vette up against a well-designed v8, instead of a 4-cylinder, try the Modena. Handles better, accelerates better, has a higher top end, looks better, sounds better, is more comfortable... And Ferrari actually has a team that isnt afraid to take part in real races (F1). In fact, theyre beating everyone, from Jaguar to McLaren and Williams. So shut up about this 50-year-old piece of dung.<!-- Signature -->

The modena is a bit more expensive then this car so they dont compare.

Elise would kill the vette on a lot of tracks. Some tracks the vette would do fine though. the elise is a lot less practical though <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">.

The faster the track the better the vette would do.

Dunno which I'd pick, I'd probably go for the vette unless I planed on going to the track a lot.<!-- Signature -->
