Why would it be embarrasing to drive a civic?

  2. nothing personal to civic drivers. but for christ sake give it up on tuning up a civic. they are nice cars, but not for racing! i dont like civics, never will. just a personal preference.

  3. All u pplz just think american cars are the best. Yea, i must agree that, on the straights, they are the best, but they are dead if there are corners. U know why? Cuz they are too heavy! DO u think Micheal Jordan can turn faster or a sumo-wrestler? Get it? Micheal Jordan is like the NSX, and the sumo is the trans-am. A NSX weights less than 2800lbs, and a trans-am weights more than 3500lbs. In a real track, 1 more lb means it takes about 0.03 second to complete a turn. and when u do the math, u will find out that the trans-am will be way slower in the corners. And the reason why the NSX is so expensive is becuz it's mostly made of aluminum, a material that not many cars are using. the only one i know is Audi A8, which costs even more than a NSX. And in fact, Honda isn't making any profit from the nsx. NSX and Trans-Am are 2 different types of cars, NSX is a pure sports car, and trans-am is nore like a drag car. So u can't really compare them. Japanese cars are much more reliable than American ones, and they don't drink tons of gas.

  4. there is nothing wrong with tuning civics at all. however, if you do tune a stock engine in a civic, you are crazy. i know someone who put a supercharger on the stock VTEC SOHC D series engine, and only gained like 32 hp. but, the civic is a great platform for a tuner car. with the right suspension, it can pull .95g on the skidpad. takes time and money though. but look at what i have done. stock civic VX, removed engine, and put in a B18C5 from a USDM type R. with my mods, thats nearing 230 hp in a 2100 lb car. hows that for power to weight. ive waited long enough, and i love my car. now all i need is that mugen body kit that is on my avatar....

  5. my prelude stock pulls .91 on a skid pad...put a kit on their and i got well over a g. civics are economy cars. they should never have been brought into the world of tuning.

  6. but your prelude doesnt weigh 2100 lb stock. i mean, why do papadakis and kubo use civics for their drag bodies? cause their light. and the preludes are beautiful cars and id love to own one. but all im saying is that the civic is a good PLATFORM for tuning. if it werent, then it wouldnt have such a huge amount of aftermarket parts for it. way more than any other car. that speaks for itself.

  7. in all honesty, u are right, civics are great platform cars. my personal preference is against them though. they dont look right for tuning to me.

My truck will be able to out handle a carrera 4. It's gonna be on BF Goodrich drag radials. They will keep me firm to the ground concidering they are 315's. Also with the stiff suspension I will have there will be no body roll and a lot more grip in the corners. So bring your Carrera 4, it has nothing on this truck. I wont crash it either, ive driven a ranger with a 460 and it stuck to the road better than tar. There is no crashing this truck, it isnt even a possibility to concider. And about the Mitsu/Dodge thing, I remembered later that day that you were talking about the engine and that it is made by mitsu, i was thinking you said it was made entirely of mitsu parts, sorry about the false posting.

Dude, you are SUCH and idiot. Drag radials are designed to go straight...JUST straight. If you try to chase a Carrera you would get smoked, I'm sorry. There is a point where you just kind of have to give up. Most of the people here just don't believe you. If you want us to listen, show us some pictures...timeslips...dynosheets...PROOF, not just words. This goes for everyone, including the people with the 1295hp Supras and 2 second TA's.

I want to get one thing straight. I love cars...all cars. Mustang, Cobra, 65' Ferrari GTO (ooooohh), GTO Judge, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra, WRX STi, the whole shebang. But no matter how much I love the sound of a hybrid civic screaming by at 8,000 rpm, there is nothing more satisfying to listen to (NOTHING) than a classic american V8 with cat-backs. There is something about that deep growl of a V8 that just gets to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my Honda, I love my friends new WRX (that thing is friggin BLUE, as in BLUE Blue), but I also love my other friends Factory 5 Ford powered Cobra replica.

Hands down the US wins the cheap HP war (yeah baby!), but as far as refinement, technology, and drivability (WITH reliability), Imports win.

Hmmmm. Twin turbo I6 powered Cobra and a V8 powered Skyline...Intresting.

Can't we all just get along??

    LoL

  12. After reading HAVE this thread, (i decided to read until i found some intelligence) and thank you "dabigtruck". He is the first person i see who comes with an unbiased view which isn't ignorant. Alright, it is ALL preference. HEY i prefer my imports over american muscle. I just like the general feel of the cars a lot better. From each class, the cars can hold their own. On the track, I see miatas eating up corvettes... but wait, Hmm(no sarcasm) i can't really think of muscle cars overtaking imports on the track. Driving in my integra, i can hold my own against SOME vettes, mustangs(which there aren't very many), firebireds, older porsches, 300zx tt's, hey it might be driver? i don't know. straight line performence, turns.. whatever. it's your choice. i have to give more respeect to people who can find a balance between horsepower/tq and still be able to handle the car well. so partly owners and how well they are in touch with the car they drive.

    hm hope this made sense.

I think you're the only one who made sense.

  14. ok first, my car is a 1996 prelude, the best year yet for that car, and the best there will be because they stopped production of the prelude. it out handles and out performs the newer models in just about every category. the newer models r slightly longer and weigh more. second, r u saying that the cobra r, vette, and viper arent over priced? yeah they are awesome cars..except the cobra r. the cobra r has nothing but a huge engine and mods!! there is no radio, a/c, or any other luxury options! if i spend $60,000 on a car, and i live in houston, i want a fuxing air conditioner in it!!! or maybe Ford decided they would have less problems with their cars if they took out everything but the engine. i swear american fanatics r stupid. and for that matter so r jap fanatics. seriously people, learn both sides of the argument before u start this shit.

  15. yeah the cobra r is about as big of a dissappointment as one could get. all that work, and you can still get a far superior Z06 for less money. oh well. ford used to be good. in the 1910's.

  16. The cobra used to be an okay car. But it started to get heavier and heavier. And now, it sucks so bad.

  17. Peoples cars tend to fit their personalities! Some people like to "fix-up" their cars for racing, while others do it just for show. Either way they love what they do! Both import and domestic cars have good and bad qualities about them! Domestic cars seem to lack handling, while imports lack the raw power of the domestic muscle cars! At least you're not riding a bike to work!

  18. well I have a pinto with that giant ass v8 thats in the ZL1, and i put twin turbos and nos in it, and now i have 15000 hp, and i have a button i push that makes wings come out, and once i get up over 300 mph it leaves the ground, and i garuntee you that a flying car handles better than one on the ground.

A TransAm/Camero/Mustang could cost $5000 brand new with 400hp, it could run a 9 second quarter mile stock, it could do better lap times than a Porsche and it would still just be plain ugly and poor quality. And to top it all off, the very day the new model TransAm/Camero/Mustang comes out, you may as well go to the store and pick up a mullet wig, because you just became the biggest piece of trash on your block. Your neighbors make fun of you behind your back, women laugh at you, really you are a sad embarrasment. Buy a Japanese or German car and 10 years from now you'll still be the envy of all.

Take my word for it, I've driven a 1998 Trans Am and a 2001 Mustang GT and I now drive a 2001 Honda Prelude. Of course the Trans Am and Mustang could kill my Prelude in a race, but I'd take the Prelude any day. I love cars and hence I want to "DRIVE" a car, not "CAPTAIN" a ship. I want a car that looks good inside and out, not sounds loud.

Another thing that people always forget in this Japanese/American arguement is that driving a unique car is desirable. Every piece of trash in the U.S. has a crappy muscle car. You can't even get a mile from your house without seeing 2 or 3 dozen other trash american muscle cars go by. Why not buy a car that's a little less common? Well, I guess common people like a common car.

Ok what are you talking about in my nieghbor everyone and thier mother own either a civic, integra, prelude, accord, or supra. For me to get a MUstang Gt is actually unique. I am not building rice rockets cause everyone else. Even if I did get a Jap car they would be like oh yeah another jap car!

  20. u know alot of people with Supras? really cause that car is alot more rare than u say. i wish i knew more people with supras...they compete with vettes my friend, not shitty "stangs" and camaros. i know alot more people with mustang gts than i do with preludes, and alot more people with preludes than supras. same amount of people own mustang gts as civics around here.

  21. thats because honda is one of the best automobile companies in the world. id say no.1, but im really really biased.

  22. EvilNinjaMoby, I don't think you should talk about such cars like cobra R, vett, or any vipers if you are goin to talk about the price.

Ofcorse, no need to talk about quat miles, but a tuned civic might beat you in mountainous roads.

    Well, maybe.

  23. Supras are great cars, but the 75k thing only applies to foreign cars.
Adding twin turbos on a Trans-Am, depending on what kind, would fly by 12's like nothing. Did you know that the best 1/4 mile time for any factory supra is a 1/2 second behind the slowest year C-4 framed Corvette? Since when are camero's shitty cars, they beat the shit out of every car in their price range.

BTW - I can name numerous cars under $75,000 that could beat a supra. Great car, but people have been overrating it every since F&F. Now people think Supras beat anything on the street because you know, they could in the movie.

  24. Oh I know the one in the movie is a one of a kind, not an example of all Supra performance. That one is Craig Leiberman's, the owner of the NIRA. I just love em and I wish I could find one in my area but they are so damn hard to locate.

  25. the supra is one car that can easily push over 1000hp and still be driven daily. id like to see that in a trans am.
