Re: What do you guys think about this

  1. This will be a good investment for GM. Its basically a $75,000 Yukon. Its just like the Escalade. GM is good at ripping off image concience buyers.

  2. what a waste of $80,000...

  3. What do you guys think about this "civilized" SUV?

  4. I like it, it is what it is. A hummer with comfort. I'm glad that there doesn't seem to be any drastic changes to the original design anyway (phew!)

A bit expensive but what else can u expect for a hummer <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">

  5. I love it. It is built off of a Yukon/tahoe frame, but the brakes, transmission and 42h33l dive system are all original, as is most of the suspension. I cant wait to see one or two of these things on the road. Vortec 6000! WOW<!-- Signature -->

  7. i like it, but i thought the price was 55,000 anyway, i would like the option of a diesel engine!!!! lol<!-- Signature -->

  8. is this sucker gonna have the desired configuration to actually have some good stock performance on the normal road? cuz the humvee was always notorious for its lack of speed on a road (obviously because it wasnt designed for it) ...this is a real off-roader, but if they're also intending it to be on-road, most likely all the time, it better be able to deliver that =P looks good otherwise. i'd just take out all the overly-done leather. i saw one at the carshow downtown earlier in the year, and the leather interior actually WRAPS around the side of the door, so when you slam the door, it rubs and rubs and rubs each time. by the time it got here, the leather was totally ripping. that wont look good a few years down the road...

That is why I am comparing them.

  12. Very sick!!! Saw one at the NY International Auto Show and it looked awesome. GM did an awesome job, but off-road is probably not in the near future for this beast. I wouls love to see it on the road, but probably would not buy one.

  13. I would just like to go 4 wheeling in this beast.

  14. I agree with nismoGTR....this car is of no use to normal people. If you are really the type to use this vehicle for what it is designed for, off-road use, fine. But there are very few of those people. This car is of no use to anyone really. I'll admit that it is designed well, and is somewhat a less rugged version of the H1, but no one in their right mind would buy either of these vehicles for any practical reason. To be completely honest, I'm really tired of seeing minivan moms graduate up to Ford Explorers, then Escalades, Yukon Denalis, and the like, and it would be really sad to see something like this become the new minivan mom type of car. No one needs a car this size to get groceries, new clothes, and picking up the kids.

  15. Nobody really needs a Yukon Denali to do all of that domestic stuff either, so I don't think that really enters in. The vast majority of huge SUV's are used for single person transport. This is totally an image thing. Just like when a cheerleader buys a Wrangler and never gets it dirty, etc etc...
I think that if I just laid down $90k on a real Hummer, I'd be ticked that some of my image was getting diluted by an H2. You have to admit, most car-ignorant people won't really know the difference or appreciate the original. It'll just be another near $50K SUV clogging the road. Like dropping $80K+ on a C4 Cabrio 911 and having people compliment your Boxster. Even if you start to explain, most people wouldn't care or understand why you paid so much more for "just about the same thing" in their eyes.

For myself, only a few SUV's are even worth considering:
    Hummer (original)
    Lamborghini LM002 America
M-B Gelandewagen (AMG G-600 please, or Renntech)
    Shelby Durango
    Hartge BMW X5

  16. i think its sucks. i loved the original hummers alot. why would you take a vehichle that is meant for off-road and make it civilized. i mean this thing isnt all that bad. my dad has the vortec 6000 motor in his silv. hd. and that thing is powerful. it gets up and goes. but i would much rather have a mean original hummer. it would run this thing over.

  17. This definitly needs the diesel option, even if only for the sake of fuel milage. Not to mention that tourqe is key off road, and a diesel's gots loads of it.
Whats scary is that people in this country are graduating fairly quickly from their college econo-box to say, a Ford Explorer, to some mostrosity like a Suburban or this. They tend to drive them all about the same. That does not work so well. The econo-box has: a low center of mass, very quick breaking, and is generally not capable of destroying the other econo-box's at normal speeds. The monster has: a high center of mass, somewhat more leisurly breaking, and can lay waste to the poor sod still driving his econo-box.
Me and my freinds parked a Neon in front of a Excusion, and the damn Ford logo is exactly on a level with the passengers' heads! I magine looking over and seeing a football sized Ford emblem heading for you at 50 mph! This thing might be better though, it may just go right over a Neon and not even scratch it =P.

  18. Some of you people seize to realize that a Hummer is a Off-Roader, an Army made Vehicle. its not made to be driven on Roads. its a waste of the Earths Valuble Resouces, anyways, the original looks better. I sure hope it has better gas nilage than the original, then again if you can afford this you can afford gas.

  19. True, sinister.... the US military has much better usage of this automobile than we civilians do. I would feel kinda bad for the Marine driving this H2 around the desert... 20 inches... haha! The original hummer, with a water-tight engine compartment can ford through 5 feet of water. Make sure you roll your windows up! Anyway, I see the older model as a more beefy one, considering that's what I saw on TV during the Gulf War and what-not. I'm sure that they have the H1's crawling around the mountains over in Afghanistan.<!-- Signature -->

  20. They should make a new law banning ppl from buying GIGANTIC SUVS and only drivin 'em on the road as daily commuters. I see ppl drive Excursion and carry only one or two ppl. ITS PATHETIC! they are all wasting the god damn gas, then we have some idiots think SUVs make 'em more respectable. One day I'm gonna create a club called "SUV DESTROYERS", we'll drive around and trash SUVs!

    Volvo POWER!

  22. This is a VERY nice SUV. Good thing it keeps some of the original Hummer looks. This is definently on my Christmas list.

  23. THIS IS A GREAT CAR!! I just got it in yellow and hooked it up and it is unbelievable. Everywhere i go people are looking at it. Diss this car all u want but really once u drive this car u'll see how similar it is to the origianl h1. Though it doesnt have the torque of the original or the full rugged look either, it still is unbelievably powerful with its 6000 vortec engine and the styling i think still has some traits of the original.

  24. Nice avatar!

  25. I once heard this from one of my friends "It looks like an old van on a truck chasis" I wouldnt mind having one but its just too watered down as far as a being Hummer
