  1. What will beat this?
    XJ220?
Also, beware of the next Jaguar Supercar.
we're seeing the XKR reaching near 400 HP, with a V8,
wait till Jaguar unleashes the renewed V12 (might be mass produced with a newly designed V10) with supercharger for the first time.
Yes with a 6 speed as well.
Whatever the case, when the car comes out, Jaguar once again will hold the title as the fastest car in the world.

    Oh yeah, American:
    Cadillac Cien.

  2. This is nowhere near the best value when it comes to american sports cars... ever heard of the corvette Z06? Who needs 500hp and 500 ft/lbs of torque when you can achieve equal or better times in every category from 405 hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque? The viper is a typical american car, big, bulky, and it handles like my refridgerator. Granted it is a very fast car, and it doesn't look too bad, I don't see the fun of dropping a v-10 from a pickup truck into a small car and calling it a sports car. Let's get this car on the track at Hockenheim with a Z06, M3, S4, 911 Turbo, Diablo, F50, or any other respectable sports car. Chances are that the Viper would only edge out the car's with 200hp less than the dodge, but it wouldn't be by leaps and bounds<!-- Signature -->

  6. Who care about this car beeing road legal at all?? It was designed for racing purposed and is sold only to race-teams. Non-racers or collectors aren't able to buy this car through dodge. It's produced in very small numbers and obvisouly isn't aimed at large public.

Even if you wanted such a car, you couldn't buy it, so go get your aston martin (which is a great car too btw) and leave this car alone. It's still more than you could handle.<!-- Signature -->

  8. If its not road legal then its a race car,
If its a race car then there are plenty of faster, smaller engined cars out there that will eat it for breakfast!
If its a race car then looks are the last thing you worry about!

If you have a race track with lots of straights and few corners then this is possibly the car for you! Otherwise use your brain!<!-- Signature -->

You cant be serious. The ACR Viper with 460 hp was about 4 seconds slower than a GT2 in a recent test by SCI. This has 500 and is much more set up for the track. So it is easaly the equal of the GT2, let alone the 911 turbo, the F355, or the Boxter. I would put this against a Diablo and I think we would all be a bit surprised at how even the contest is. I really hope you are being sarcastic. Maybe I amjust fried after work.<IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

  10. if this car aint road legal and it can be beten by car which ARE road legal, well, it wont be a good race car will it

  11. you all go on about how this car will beat anything
vipers are shit, i saw a program over here in england
it was jeremy clarkson, you heard of him?
he had a line up of the best superproduction cars,
TVR cerbera, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Catheram 7,
911, and a couple more, and guess what came last in a
1/2 mile sprint, yep the viper, even the 1.6lt kit car beat it
it was about 2 seconds behind everything else.
fair enough it wasn't this car but the RT/10 version.

i mean come on for a car thats supposed to be a drag monster
    and beat anything thats poor!!!!.

  12. Moron, that was the UK-spec Viper with only 400 horses. Rumor in the UK is that that Cerbera was actually either
    1) running without catalytic converters OR
    2) running with a development 4.5 engine

Take a look below and compare the Viper's standing mile compared to the 911 Turbo, which was also in that Clarkson video.

  13. Sorry, here it is. Motor Trend '97. On the right is how it compares to the Aston Martin DB7, from a '98 test.

Besides. All of those cars in the Clarkson video were driven by different drivers of different skill levels. Not really good "testing", IMO.

  14. Here's something that could beat this car!

  15. whoever developed the fire part of the eye candy plug-in for photoshop has A LOT to answer for!!!

Last I recall, chief, this was a one-timer. She was only made once, as an example. S don't say it was designed to be sold to race teams. If the people here wanted smoke blown up their arses, they'd be at home with a pack of cigarettes and a short length of hose.

  17. SORRY I DIDN'T REALISE THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN POWER BETWEEN
UK AND US SPEC VIPERS BUT STILL 400BHP V10
    AGAINST A 160BHP I4 COME ON

OH AND THE 4.5lt CERBERA ENGINE ISN'T DEVELOPMENTAL ITS THE TOP OF THE RANGE MODEL!!

The say that non racers and collectors won't be able to purchase this......THAT IS THE BIGGEST CROCK OF SHIT I'VE EVER READ....So, you would mean to tell me that if, hold on...let me pick out a rich ass sonofabitch....BILL GATES....if Mr. Gates were to try to purchase on of these from dodge for his collection.....they would deny him? I bet they wouldn't.....They are in business to sell cars....I'd seriously doubt that shit.

Could you be anymore wrong??This car was not desingned for racing. There is another version of this car made that looks alike to it and i was built for racing. This was a car to showcase upcoming styling cues to be used in upcoming vipers. And yes this car was made in small numbers. THEY MADE 1!!!Also i would think if this car is too much to handle for someone, then wouldnt an Aston Martin be a lot to handle also?? Who are you to decide how much of a car people can handle??? I would bet this beast is too much for a lot of people on here including you!!!

Anyways, this is not a racing viper to be sold to racing teams. Look at page three of the thread "500HP and 4000RPM???" and click on my links to see the racing version of this viper.<!-- Signature -->

What's the weight of that Caterham JPE again? The Viper is 3500-ish lbs.
I mean, the Pontiac Firebird Firehawk is quicker through the standing mile than that Viper (or that driver).

At the time of that video, it was indeed developmental. That was supposedly a 4.2 in the video, remember.

  21. I just find it funny that some people just relentlessly hate imports using this car as a base, and others just have to hate this car becuase they can not accept that a big block american car can be quite decent in all aspects of performance.

This is a concept. On top of that, the new Viper is going to have this much power, a better power curve most likely, cost about 80K, handle like a dream according to the automotive press (new IRS), and generally be refined. So we can argue about this car all we want. The new one is whats really relevant, and it rocks.<!-- Signature -->

  23. If this engine runs at 9.5 to 1 and you could turbocharge it and run at 8.5 to 1. Do the math and you come up with 440-450hp NA at 8.5 to 1. Then beef up the internall parts and run 20-28psi boost. Figure in all that and you come up with 1000hp to 1300hp. Beat that

  24. that has been done already. giwasa viper makes a supercharged viper that has about 1200 hp and 1400lb/ft of torque. its 0-60 time is not really that great due to tall gearing for high speed. only one was ever built and i haven't seen any reports of its high speed test.

in any point cars that surpass 1000hp+ is not uncommon, at least not in the drag world.
