Re: Why do u guys like american carz??

1. what are you saying?

I'm betting that cool cars for you are something in between Honda Civics and Mazda Protege's a la Fast and the Furious...! cmon man
jap cars look all the same, they have such a mundane styling

not the case of the American cars, because you will nver mistake a Camaro for a Mustang, or a Charger for a Firebird or whatever, each car has its own looks, its own fans and characteristics...

I bet you to find a jap car that has real Heritage supporting it...

2. u both are bickering too much. wouldnt u want a car with styling u can determine from another car and has enough power to get it moving with out adding all that NOS and turbo charging? but doesnt weigh a lot and is faster than a vette or a as fast as an NSX or something around those lines? A GERMAN car named the 2002 BMW M3 gives you all these characteristics combined in one beautiful peice of engineering

3. Listen Howard. I love import cars too but you cannot deny the beauty and pure horsepower running freely under the hood of a well-built American car. In my rice burner I think that 300bph with a turbo is a lot but when I step in my dads Z06 there is no question that american muscle is king. Imports are fun but there is no confusion to which type of muscle car it is when it thunders down the street. I think that if you stopped watching fast and the furious and got out of your 94 civic with intake that cost less thatn a tank of gas than you would truely see whos king.

4. lol you cannot honestly compare any thing to an american car the thought of a jap car or german car faster than a zo6 haaaa well well like you said with nos but think about it what if you put nos in a vette?it would whoop your bmw's ass
speaking of cars that look the same i'm sick of all the m- models they suck! they all look like super boxes they make a 94' chey astro look like a sphere!

5. No one said anything against the ZO6. i personnaly would take a Z06 over an M3 any day because it is cheaper and faster. but u all dont realize that japs make all cars better. all the engine parts for american cars like blocks etc. are made in jap because their machines are more precise than ours. the frame is made in hte USA because it is just supposed to be strong not exactly precise. its just japs rig out the cars out at the production and dont give enough power so then the car cost more and the american cars are just plain muscle and when u bolt on a Flowmaster and a K&N u got 50 hp in the bag when it takes so much more for a jap to get more hp.

6. hey 1983BMW733i, its not all about what car is faster, personally it would be a tough descion of what i would take a M3 or a Z06 i dont really know. but there totally different cars, M3 is a german car and a vette is american. they're made differently, vettes have bigger engines while an m3 is lighter and has a smaller more tuned engine. a M3 is mint on the track, i took my buddies to pocono and limerock track its suspension is great, it handles awesome and can take hairpin turns with ease. i also happen to love corvettes on the track they're great. Vipers on the other hand I DO NOT LIKE. personally this is what i think of them..... they're a car with a big motor thrown into them, its heavy and they have no other types of modification the handling isnt to well on the track they have a attendancy to spin out and there weigh distribution is a little off. the viper is a fast car but its not right for me. a 8.0 liter V10 give me a break dodge...

7. ivanhoe...I dont agree what u are talking about...I dont think jap cars look all the same, ad if you aretalking about muscle..look at NSX,Lancer Evoultion,Skyline....etc..
But I know that Mustang is differene from others

I dunno y all uguys like them....I dont think a mustang..camaro looks cool...Corvett and Dodge Viper is a nice car but I will buy a car better than that if I have that much$$$......I am just giving out my own opinion...

do you speak ebonics? please write it out so we can understand

9. u are right SHAWN but if this was all based on money then the vette is the ceahpest, fastest and overall best car on the market. but the m3 is something that u drool over even when driving it. but you are right. it depends on what u like. i too hate the viper. it is just a tuned out truck engine anyway. my friends dad sometimes races up in the poconoes in his little BMW. its a 73 2002 tii but it has a 95 m3 engine under the hood with fiberglass paneling. it is so small but it is fast.

P.S. Shawn...what is your favorite car?

10. Ummm....because most of the people on this forum are American. Admittedly I think most American cars handle like barges. There are great ones like the Z06 (insert Hannibal Lecter noise), F-Bird, Camaro SS, 2nd gen Viper maybe, etc... I didn't include the Mustang Cobra because in Australia, it's considered a piece of shit that handles like crap, and is driven by middle aged men with comb overs and pockets full of Viagra. Then again I also think a lot of Jap cars are overrated buzz boxes too. There are exceptions of course (Lancer Evo, RX-7 (bzzzzzzzz, wooh!), NSX, 200SX, Skyline). I also think that a lot of good European cars are ruined by technology (traction control, stability programs). The Audi RS4 for example, is a brilliant car that's ruined on the track by the ESP program that can't be turned off. That's my opinion.

11. I have to agree that civics and the like (FWD compacts) for the most part suck. However, there are few american cars that can outperform my MR2 for the same price. Check it:

My 1985 MR2: $2000
My new paint: $400
My mods: about $1400
My best 1/4 mile: 13.56 @ 101.7
Best 700ft slalom: 72 mph
Best braking from 60 mph: 118 ft
best MPG: 32 in town or on the highway, it makes no difference

I did this on Yokahama AO32Rs (205/55 R14 rear and 185/60 R14 front)

Yeah, make any American car do that for $3800 dollars! Hope you have fun trying. And let me know how it comes out; I'll still give you credit for your effort.

12. BTW Vetteman,
I'll list several Toyotas that are faster than the C5-R
1. 1991 Gurney Eagle IMSA GTP (powered by a Toyota 2.1L 4 cylinder)
-still holds the fastest lap at Datona's road course
2. TRD's JGTC Supra (1998 cc 4 cylinder)
3. Pikes Peak Celica/Tacoma (again a 2.1L 4 cylinder...1000 bhp too)
4. Toyota GT-One
5. 1987 Group C RallyCross MR2 (2.2L 4 cylinder producing 600 bhp)
6. The new Toyota F1 that is worth more than the toal value of Chevrolet.

No really, Chevy can't afford to build a Formula 1 car! Even if they had the knowledge.
Also, GM products fall apart. My step-brother's Delta 88 has 90 something thousand miles and it won't even start. The other day when it died I towed him home with my 1985 MR2 that has 153,000 miles on the engine. The bottom end of my engine has never been rebuilt and the cylinder walls are like new. You can still clearly see the cross hatch from the factory.

13. Hay 1983BMW733i wake up, a 2002 z06 cost's more than a Z-3M and will blow one away. As for the design of the z-3 the S2000 is far better. (I am not a Honda fan) I owned a 323i when I lived in Germany, blew the motor two times trying to race 911's, well we all do stupid things. Well as far as American technology there is no lack of it, all cars have stupid restrictions. Every country in the world wants American airplanes, they only get the ones that are thirty years behind our cutting edge jets of the future. The American auto market has to leave a world market open for trade or America would only be giveing more money away for nothing in return. I would like to own a 911 Turbo, but they are costly to service. Well if the day does come that I can't buy a V-8 Z28 I will get a Vette, by then my kids will be grown so I wont need a backseat to haul the little pups around. And please don't spell cars carz when American is in front, that is a slap in the face for the people that started it all. And don't take it the wrong way Japan builds a really nice GSXR1300, And a great CBR1100, but two wheels is a different story.

14. If there was ONE reason why i like American cars is that
they pick up girls(not that I need a car for that)
and two: the exhaust, I cant stand an Imports exhaust

Yep I agree, GM just fired a few hundreds or thousands workers.

16. i am with you vetteman. the z06 is like i said the best car for the money u pay. the m3 is cool but the z06 is faster, cheaper and is cooler and when the C6 comes who knows whats in store for the z06. but the engineers at BMW like Alpina and Dinan make some bad a$$ rides but ar to friken exspensive $$$$$$$$$$$$.

17. I want every american supercars, and there concepts((acept mustangs))!!!

18. yeah
the new C6 Corvette is going to be ultra cool
anybody knows something about the 50th Edition Corvette? (I mean, 2003 marks the 50th anniversary of America's favorite sports car and I guess the guys at Chevy are going to celebrate big

19. i think that american cars r a lot better than jappenese cars but i still like European cars better

20. heh.. you shouldn't even be allowed to use the words 'japanese, import, honda, etc.' in the same sentence as the F-Bodies. Sure I like BMW's and Lambo's ... but I know when to respect a muscle car though...

and remeber... speed doesn't kill people... cops do..

21. jap this jap that y dont u go to hell with that idea. z06 and everything gm produces is made in america by americans and for americans.

22. Alright to all u rice rocket lovers, imports for the most part suck. Go get a motor trend and look at the times in the back for times. Those civics ya'll love so much do 0-60 in 9.0 seconds with a profesional driver and a manual. For those of us who would like to hit 60 befoe we die i'd suggest something american with some power. I drive a 95 Bronco and i timed it 0-60 in around 8 seconds, My 5000+ pound SUV can smoke the shit outta ur little wannabe sports cars and still be able to mud like a mother #$%#er, and don't go talkin about how u can go supercharge it and shit to beat my ass cause i dont' have much respect for cars that rely on superchargers for power since their pieces of shit that couldn't cut it without em. plus the quickest import from Japan, the RX-7 one of the only cars from over there that could be consided a bad ass sports car was made by mazda which is owned for the most part by Ford. About 60% of it actually making your car more a product of an american company then a japanese one. Plus all other sports cars from japan were discontinued cause people would rather have a N/A V-8 then a turbo 3.0L V-6 anyday. Go get yourself a real car,Any sports car with less than a V-8 is meant for a woman.

23. NSX muscle, not hardly, 100k is an awful lot for a car, plus, any good car could beat it. Vetteman, sur the nuw C6 wil be grate, but fuw will be able to aford et

24. Its going to have the almost the same price tag as the C5 R. I am saving up for one

25. american cars suck so bad. they started this pony power war the japs are gonna finish it. oh and by the way, camaros suck!!
