Sam Adams Octoberfest.
It was voted the 4th best brewery in the world, so people can harp on it for being from Michigan all they want, but it truly is one of the best in the world.
this is actually one of my favorite "party beers"
its really good and its not normally too expensive, actually i think i might get some just because i havent had any since last year.
Is it true or what?
i just had alaskan summer ale, it was a great change, i suggest trying it, its a little sweet, but dry and... nice.
i tried it a few years ago and didnt like it, but now i love it. dont know if it will ever be a fall back beer, but its good. i like alaskan pale/amber/ipa/summer, they are all very good, no wonder budwiser just bought them

So, I found out from my chef friend that the procedure for making root beer is the same as other beer, only without the addition of yeast. Prolly gonna get a root beer making kit and throw some yeast up in it.
You are soon to find out why your friend is not a brewer.
I dunno, maybe I should post a list of steps for making beer, just for you?
With tender love and caring.
