RPM question

Discussion in '1999 Leblanc Caroline' started by m3tt, Aug 10, 2002.

  1. what difference does it make how high an engine revs?
i know that it can safely rev higher on a I4 because of its smaller size. But how come the S2000 revs to higher rpms then most other cars?

The S2000 revs to higher rpms then most other cars because the manufacturer is planning on having alot of upgrade options available for the s2000. I remember back in the 80's when BMW raced in a series instead of having a 6 8 10 12 or bigger they used a 1.5L inline 4 which redlined at 12,000 rpm and had 1500BHP yet it still beat every other car.

  4. Re: RPM question

the new mazda rx-8 redlines at 9000 rpm, the same as the s2000

  5. Re: RPM question

Spoon engins, such as in the spoon civic type-r can hit up to 17 000 rpm

  6. Re: RPM question

smaller engines can rev higher, and because they are smaller the higher you rev them the more power and torque you can get from them

  7. Re: RPM question

good valve springs help getting higher rpm's, that and alot of other things.

  8. f1 reacer have a small v10 to cut wight, high rev to get more power from small engine
