I read an article a while back about a very interesting modified Merkur XR4Ti. it ditched the turbocharged ford inline four in favor of a Nissan VG30DETT- that's the twin turbo DOHC 24v V6 found in the 300ZX Twin turbo. With power boosted to over 500 horsepower and the weight significantly reduced, it had startling performance- the low five second 0-60 time was held back because of traction issues. I've heard the car, nicknamed "scorch", can attain straight-line wheelspin in first, second and third gear. I cant' remember where i read this but if i find the magazine i'll scan/post it here.
