So I was: joining the Navy

  1. I leave for bootcamp May 12. I actually signed up to join June of last year and I'm just now getting around to making this thread now that my leave date is pretty close. I realize most of you probably don't know who I am considering I'm not around much and when I am I usually lurk more than I post. At any rate felt it was worth posting <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/PnutSpecial.gif"></A>

I just thought I should post this here.

Edit: Also, have fun on boats. One of my friends was in a navy and he was stationed in san diego or something his whole tour of duty.

  11. I had planned on joining the Air Force as soon as I turned 18 but my dad would have none of that.

  12. why was he against that?

  13. Even though he was in the Navy himself back in the 70s he still wasn't all to positive about me joining the military. There were several reasons he wasn't too happy about it but I'd say primarily he thought (still kinda does) that I'd be better off starting a serious career where i could make some money. He's a lot more receptive to the idea now though considering I'm older, I'm joining his prior branch, and that I'll be doing a job that easily translates into the civilian sector.

  14. lol people are so defensive of their branches. My uncle was trying to recruit me into the marines. My friends father heard I was putting together an application for army aviation and confronted me, like seriously tried to have an intervention and guide me to the Navy.

What MOS? My friend's little brother joined the navy right when they were starting the riverine fleet back up, they only took like 200 people and he was one of them. So now all he does is ride around in a speed boat armed to the teeth.

  15. MUHREENEZ wouldn't take me. 2 credits short of signing up. Passed the ASVAB with flying colors though.

  16. You were too stupid to get into the marines? What are you, half monkey?

  17. good luck!

I'm actually thinking about the air force... but I'm so confused about what the best career/path is for me... <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/confused.gif"></A>

  18. The most important thing is to pick something you're interested in/like doing. Otherwise you'll hate it and be stuck with it for the rest of your life.

  19. Also, should have joined the Chair Force, then your only action would be on your xbox.

  20. Maybe despite his pricey education that he likes to brag about on the internet, he still doesn't know basic grammatical rules?

  21. I was considering an officership in the CF. Essentially, a free engineering degree, a guaranteed engineering job, and when done and entering civilian life, a very transferable high-demand degree with impressive experience on top of it all. Free (compulsory, but something I wanted) French instruction was nice, too. However, I wasn't sure if I was morally in tune with current Canadian foreign policy enough to want to be an officer in the Forces - I feel like it might have been a job I hated.

In hindsight, I'm unsure about my decision.

  22. prepare for tonz of gay action

  23. good luck and godspeed.

  24. Anyway, +1 and good luck. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  25. Did 3 years in the Canadian Navy and enjoyed the experience. Good luck.
