Some of you have no sense...

  1. I noticed that a lot of people who post at this site judge the value of a car by either its looks, its performance, or some combination, which is fine. However, a lot of people judge the looks and performance figures relative to what is commonly capable by cars today, which is not ok. In fact, it's pretty stupid.

Consider this car. It was made in 1928. For a car to go 75mph out of a 4 cylinder engine back then was a serious achievement. Independent front/rear suspension is also an innovation, as is the monocoque body, and focus on light weight materials. The looks might not be in style today, but in 1928, this style was as common as the SUV style is today. This was a supercar of its time, and to compare it to cars of today is foolish.

There are people that say that this or that shouldn't be on supercars.net for some reason or another. Usually its because it's either an antique vehicle, or because its a non-performance flashy concept. Obviously, this site provides much more than "supercars". Innovations and advancements in technology are also showcased... <!-- Signature -->

I whole heartidly agree with everything you have said. When analizing an example such as the 1928 Lambda I think everyone should try to imagine this car IN 1928, making comparisons to other marques of the era.

Without innovation in engineering, as seen on the Lambda, the McLaren F1 never would have come about.

Although while not contributing any significant information, I must also agree with the previous comments.

I also have to thank one Mr. Richard Owen for posting such cars on his wonderful website ) I know that I (as well as many other people on this site) enjoy tracking cars through their history before they developed into the wonderful machines they are today. Almost an education of some sorts, if you will.
