2. i'm sorry i don't get it..how does this car make 1.7% of the sites total popularity? hp is nothing special, weight would be horrific, handling improved over the base stang... a bog stock skyline driven by your grandma would blow the doors off this?

the original 60's stang was REALLY good for its time, real affordable performance, looked great, did great - a car i like (and want). but 40 years on they've hardly changed. a 60's porsche was REALLY good for its time also, but the current 911 is a total quantum leap ahead of its ancestor and still a top in its class. so not only do generally americans not believe in evolution they also don't do it... lmao

if ever there was a car that sold on reputation alone, and the general publics lack of taste, its the mustang. IMHO, its ugly, it has some nice sweeping curves, ruined by that fat bouncy-castle of a bumper that clashes with the hood line and looks like some poorly concieved aftermarket piece.
the rest of it has slightly bad looking proportions, which has the effect of making it normal-ish looking, which is a marketing strategy because it wouldn't look american if it was too good. as i have said, 270hp... very sporty sedan average i'm sorry. wow it has a handling package... just about every new car has that as and option and if it doesn't you can get them aftermarket. and bullit? never saw the film and don't care..
my guesses for the bullit: 0-60 in 6.5, low 14's, 140mph, would handle quite well. faster than 90% of cars on the road, but as far as this website goes its the bottom of the pile
so why is this car pulling 1.7% of the site traffic?

3. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

its popular becuase we have all the GM people coming in here bagging it then we have all the Ford people coming bagging them, then we get all the jap car ppl bagging everything. So the more clicks, the more popular the car is hence the %

4. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

I guess high 14's in the 1/4.

I think the most ugly thing ever sold was the Aztec, but looks are totally opinion.

5. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

I personally think this car is a huge dissapointment. I can understand wanting to do a car based on a movie with (arguably)the greatest car chase scene ever..but please. C'mon Ford, can't you do better than this? The numbers are *barely* better than the GT and although I don't know the price offhand...I bet it's not worth the extra bucks. I don't like Ford anyway, but this sure isn't helping my overall view of their company. Maybe if they bring back the GT40 into production...but only maybe.

And I can't see how this car is the most popular. I would think one of the TRUE supercars would be at the top spot...but what do I know, I don't like 'stangs anyway.

6. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

It doesn't even have a f*cking spoiler. The least they could do is put one on there, even if it doesn't do anything, it'll make it look better.

I was gonna let this slip on by, but i decided not to. Half of those god damned spoilers that are frequently seen on rice dont do any thing. not that many people think they look good either

Why is it people always seem to assume I'm talking about ricers?? Granted, I think a lot of them are great looking cars, but that isn't the point. I wasn't talking about adding one of those weird wings that should only be on true race cars, and not one of those high touring wings that should stay on the supras...but just a stock spoiler from Fords vast warehouse of mustang spoilers. Is that too much to ask? I mean, the tune up a car (though not by much, it still sucks)...from engine mods, to suspension mods...and then they take off the spoiler. I seriously doubt I'm the only one that thinks spoilers add to the look of the car, functional or not. It'll add a lot to that plain trunk they got. The car would still suck, but it wouldn't look as gay.

9. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

its not just jap imports that have do-nothing spoilers, its a universal thing to see lumps of molded plastic that create more drag than downforce tacked on the back of a car as a design afterthought.

It dosen't have a spoiler because the mustang in the movie "Bullit" did not have one. And since this car's looks are based off of that stang of course it would'nt have a spoiler! And (at least the newer mustangs) are a bit faster without the spoilers. I like stangs a little better with a wing on it, but it's not bad without one.

Holden's are boring sedans, the Bullit looks 100x better than a holden.

hey what the #$%# are you on u idiot have u read motor lately, see how Holden's pride and joy (the monaro CV8) was beaten by the mustang?? Remember the mustang has 1100cc less than the commodore as well and don't forget all the anti mustang bias in the article as well, so as to conclude yeah holdens are still shit, and will never ever have the history of this car so don't u ever dare say otherwise!!

You pretty much hit the nail on the head here... Americans, for the most part are in love with the image that mustang had. Whether or not it is still deserving of this image today is debatable... I think not. But a lot of it's recognition came from the earlier years... and this mustang heralds a reference to Bullit - which was a Steve McQueen movie in which he played a detective and drove (quite incredibly, I might add, especially since he was doing his own stunt-driving) a mustang after a gang of murderers. Just another marketing gimmick... an overpriced performance package... sad that they named it after a movie with one of the greatest car chases of all time... I wonder how many of the morons driving it will even know that (probably only the 50 year old men).

Lets see A viper what do those things run? knowing that i paid 22500 for my bullitt new i saved atleast 50grand, so if i take lets say 10 of that and put it into the bullitt i am looking a a 32500 car that leaves me 40 to play with if i needed it. I think i could see you in my rear view mirror smelling ruber and exhaust.

16. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

whats good is the looks of the car yes it is laking were it should be gaining ( in the engine ) but its not terribly slow and why would ford want to put an insane engine in it
why would they try to beat there cobras and cobra R's with a bullitt
thats why i think that they did this
dont get me wrong with only $6000 under the hood you would lick a whole lot of ppl
fords mustangs are supercars for the price with a little money that you would spend on a normal supercar you would smoke the other supercar anyway maybe even with this car

17. Re: someone explain to me whats good about this car and why it's

ok, the thing about this car you see....is that it pays tribute to one of the MOST popular cars of 1968, so what if it doesnt look like it, the point of it was to remember the 1968 Mustang GT, and thats what this is, except a 2001. if you look at a 1968 mustang, and then a GT, then a coupe, and so on....and then go to todays, they all looked the same, it was the differences underneath the hood. so, all in all, this is just a 2001 Mustang, but theyre only making 5000, they have beautiful 5 spoke wheels, engraved calipers(which i find pretty cool), and a good engine, that will take down alot of other production cars, ones without any mods that is. the Beef i have with the newer Mustangs, is the size, after being in both a 1967 GT, and the bullit at a car show, i've realized that it got smaller, unless some little kid pushed the seat up to far...so ya, thats my say in it...its a TRIBUTE, and i think it does a good job.
