Re: SOMEONE TELL ME HOW FAST IT GOES They had slick tires in 1995, so that undoubtedly helped them out a good bit in getting the power to the ground. Now, since they have grooved tires, i doubt the acceleration is much faster, even though they do have launch control to help them get off the line, but that really doesn't make them accelerate any faster, it just uses a computer system to match the revs and clutch to ensure a perfect, wheelspin-free launch everytime. They do have much higher corner speeds compared to 1995, though, thanks to huge advances in aerodynamics and, of course, power.

CorvetteZ06: That you use this name implies you don't have too much sense of cars. Traction control makes the cars faster, because more than 15% wheelspin isn't good for the acceleration. It's not a "cosmetical" thing because Ecclestone didn't like the burnouts. And they are not faster in cornering because of more power, even a 100 HP Ford can be TOO fast for a curve, he doesn't need more. The loss of slick tyres has been more than overcome, especially when Michelin enter the circus last year the rivalry with Bridgestone has led to tyre-compounds that are superior to the slicks before they were banned.
