for a school project, i need to research spanish cars. so list a bunch of spanish car companies. i don't care wether they have originated in spain (seat, hispano-suiza) or just are produced and sold there (opel, renault) but be sure to specify this. thanks in advance.
Most common Spanish brands: Seat (Sociedad Española de Automçoviles Turismo), Hispano-Suiza, Pegaso (cars and trucks), Barreiros (trucks), Santana (SUV's). Only Seat (VW owned) and Santana (deal with Suzuki) are in production. Iveco owns Pegaso, while there have been some attempts at revivinh Hispano Suiza Currently factories in Spain (production in 2004): GM (Opel) at Figueruelas, Zaragoza: Corsa & Meriva (422003 cars in total) Ford at Almussafes, Valencia: Ka, Fiesta, Focus, Mazda2 (449101 cars in total) Renault at Valladolid & Palencia: Megane, Modus (489386 cars in total) Seat at Barcelona: Arosa, Ibiza, Cordoba, Leon & Toledo (416381 cars in total) PSA Peugeot (Villaverde, Madrid) Citroen (Vigo): Xsara, C3, Pluriel, C15, Picasso, Berlingo & Partner (336979 cars in total) (Note the C15 & Xsara production have already stopped, and probably the C4 is now build in the same place) VW at Landaben, Navarra: Polo (232497 Nissan at Barcelona: Tino, Terrano II, Pathfinder (63561) DC at Vitoria: Mercedes Viano (20239) Santana at Linares, Jaen: Anibal, Suzuki Jimny, Grand Vitara(18595)
BTW, Peugeot's factory at Villaverde (Madrid) used to be owned by Barreiros, who built there Simca's and Dodge's (3700GT and Dart). On the other hand the factory at Zona Franca (Barcelona) was used in different times by Hispano Suiza, Pegaso and Seat.
