    you know anything baout cars!

Pagani and Mercedes AMG ink new engine deal

The world's major sportscar-makers all have major parent companies behind them: Ferrari and Maserati have the Fiat Group while Lamborghini (and Bugatti) are under the VW/Audi umbrella. Pagani Automobili SpA, however, remains independent, but hooked up with Mercedes to provide the motivation in the heart-racing Zonda supercar. Not to worry, though, because by all accounts the V12 engine that AMG builds by hand for Pagani is an awesome powerplant. Its displacement and output have increased from six liters and 408 horsepower in the original C12 to 7.3 liters and 602 hp in the latest Zonda F. With dedicated development like that, it would be foolish for Pagani to look elsewhere or consider designing its own engine. So it's probably a good sign that Pagani and AMG have renewed their partnership, the fruits of which we're looking forward to seeing in the highly anticipated successor to the Zonda, whenever it debuts.

  3. Infact...

    ... It will.

  4. No, the C9 is going to have a V8 Kompressor.
The AMG V12 is out of production.

  5. A V8 Kompressor !? Haha ...

    I really doubt that!!

  7. Does anybody have knowledge of how far the 6.2 AMG V8 could rev with pricier internals/blueprinting?

True that a V8 will never be a V12, but in a lighter car a smaller engine would be better and I doubt Pagani will use charging of any kind.

  8. Since when the M275 6.0l Twin Turbo V12 is out of production?<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

  11. 5.0L turbo to replace current AMG V8 & V12
Posted on Friday 25 April 2008

Now that AMG is no longer focused on chasing big horsepower numbers, efficiency is quickly become the new performance benchmark for the Affalterbach-based tuner. Not even exclusive performance firms like AMG are immune to the effects of stricter emissions and fuel economy standards being phased in over the next decade, so expect to see downsized engines, more diesels and even hybrid engines introduced by the performance house.

According to a new report, AMG will replace its still-new 6.2L V8 and 6.0L V12 twin-turbo engines with a brand new 5.0L V8 twin-turbo. There are several reasons behind the decision: the new 6.2L has horrendous fuel consumption at full throttle and it lacks the low-end grunt of the previous supercharged 5.5L V8.

There will be several versions of the new force-fed 5.0L mill, a base version with 570hp and 665lb-ft of torque to replace the 6.2L V8 and a high-output 700hp/885lb-ft unit to replace the 612hp V12. There will also be a hybrid variant dubbed ‘BluePower’. Other innovations include a new electrically operated direct-drive gearbox that provides faster and more efficient gearshifts than the current range of automatics.

One of the last cars to feature the current 6.2L engine will be the upcoming ‘SLC’ gullwing supercar due in 2010. It will feature a transaxle drivetrain, eight-speed auto and a power output in excess of 600hp.

  12. Knew that.
But it's an engine which is still under development.
And it will need a long development, believe me.
And they basicly talk about introducing it in 2011, since the 2010-expected SLC will be the last car featuring the 6.2l V8.
And the world will see the C9 in march 2009...
    ... So?

Come on man, the car in the 1st vid isn't even pulling the trottle. On the other way, 2nd vid is the presentation of the Zonda F to Pagani customers ... and I let you know, Horacio Pagani is driving the car on the 2nd video.

That 1st vid has and addicional intake on the engine, engine testing yes, but ... it's sound like a V12, for me.

I really doubt Pagani using not natural aspired engines.
