Well it's good to see you have caught up with HSV after 3 years...now that you have 300kw, watch and see HSV move on to bigger and better things...<!-- Signature -->

I just thought you were one of those people making a comment about how Holden will be finished and will have nothing with BA comes out. I had an interesting conversation with my dads friend the other day, his wife is the project manager of the VZ Commodore. Gonna have some pretty neat stuff in it too - the all alloy twin cam 3.8L V6 and S/C V6, a new alloy V8 that will shut off 2 or 4 cylinders when not required, 5 speed automatic transmission. The VY is gonna be very similar to the VX though, but its gonna have more sportier style options and its going to get a decent sounding exhaust (finally) for the V8.<!-- Signature -->

  6. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

any #%$got can put a turbo on a car only a real man can drive a N/A

  7. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

you forget that the XR8 has moved up to HSv, which is why ford has a turbo out there to take it on for straight line, cos it beats it everywhere else.

  8. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

I don't get the whole turbo thing...I mean sure a WRX might be able to keep up with an SS or whatever but it has a turbo. If you turbo the SS there is no way the WRX would keep up. The way I see it, everything you can do to your 4cyl car you can do to a V8, and the V8 will always have the edge from its extra capacity. You can turbocharge the V8, but you cant bolt extra pots onto a 4 banger. Don't get me wrong though I dont have anything against 4cylT cars its just I dont understand why some people think like that.

  9. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

Not if you want the engine to run for more than 5sec

  10. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

    So he says.

  11. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

    I bet he does

  12. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

the media's full of shit a lot, most stats are not stats. yeah if you can't tell i study media and.

I'm sure you could produce those figures, but the bolt-on mods would be extreme and like I said before, the engine wouldn't last 5 min

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You can run a turbo on a 4 or 6cyl at much higher boost than on an 8. If you run 22psi of boost through a 4 or 6 it will be fine. do that to a v8 and it will #$%# up pretty quickly. Its just that the Jap engines are more responsive to tuning and can cope with it much better than the american v8's. You can pull 800hp out of a skyline without changing any parts in the engine."

HOOOOOOOOLY JEEEEEEEEESUS. the dude that said this is a tard. pure and simple. american V8s can handle incredible amounts of boost. our cars don't typically come designed to handle boost, theyre not plumbed for a turbo, but they can be made in to one EASILY. people here can twin turbo a 502 "American" V8 Chevy engine and run 30lbs on a decently built engine and pump 2500+ HP and far more torque. please read up more on your cars ebfore you post. thanks in advance.

  15. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

You don't need 30psi on a V8 though thats real extreme 5-10 is all you need for decent power. And if the cars were tuned properly they would be reliable.

  16. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

EVOTIME, where are you from??? have you ever driven a boosted American V6 @ 30psi??? let alone an American V8??? $20 says you don't even have a real EVO let alone a drivers license. stfu troll

  17. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

actually, yes, i have driven a japanese boosted i6 in my friends MKIV supra. so lemme get this right, your cousin has an R32, and your dad has some Mitsu converto-TV. so WHAT DO YOU DRIVE.

my reference was to American V6s being boosted as well as V8s. look up the LC2 motor from Buick. it makes insane power with very little in mods, it would eat a supra alive from a dead dig. LC2 powered Buick Regals have been running in the 7s and 8s on a 3.8L single turbo engine for years now. show me a japanese anything that can do it on a stock long block and stock suspension kid.

you'll see how impressive a boosted American V6 is, even more insane things happen when you boost Yankee V8s.

no ones knocking japanese cars, but when it comes down to it, youre coming across as a kid who thinks theyre hot shit but has no fast car of their own and has never changed their own oil before.

and if you do have a fast ride, what is it.

  19. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

Is that the same 3.8L V6 Holden uses?

  20. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

the LC2 is different than the L67 (think thats right) thats in the XU6 and Regal/GTP Grand Prix models of other GM divisions. the turbo version id from the 1980s obviously and im unaware of any of the LC2 motors making it to Australia. there might be some, but i dont know. either way, those 3.8 SFI turbo6s make mad torque with little in the way of boost. not as much HP/kW, but thats only how fats you hit the wall, torque is how hard you hit it :D

  21. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

Well the XU6 is used also by Holden in a N/A state and Holdens fitted with this engine between 1988 and 1995 had slightly less power, they were injected aswell but not sequential.

  22. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

so from 88-95 Holden had a n/a 3.8L V6 with similar power to the new XU6??? or do you mean with stats similar to the legendary LC2???

  23. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

    1988-1991 - 125kw
    1991-1993 - 127kw
    1993-1995 - 130kw
    1995-2000 - 147kw
    2000- - 152kw

That is for the n/a engine. The supercharged engine was offered from 1995 or 1996, Holden quoted 165kw however motor magazine estimates 180kw as it was a lot quicker than the V8 offered which had 168kw. In fact, an Auto supercharged V6 Calais got to 100 in 6.6 seconds compared to 6.9 seconds for a Manual V8 SS. Holden now quotes 171kw for the engine but I doubt its no different to the other.

  24. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

exactly, i mean 241 bhp with a 231.9 cu in and a supercharger??? I mean come on it should produce more than that without a supercharger. I mean the Acura NSX has a 194.0 cu in engine and produces 280 bhp without a turbo/supercharger. More displacement = more weight, and although the VX2 has a lot more torque than the NSX, the added weight still is not worth it, along with the supercharger lag that it will have.

  25. Re: Still slow with the supercharger

I'm not entirely sure about what I'm gonna say, maybe someone knows more about this and can help - I remember reading once that this type of supercharger used in this car isn't designed for high horsepower but for low down torquel, which this car has bucketloads of. And given that this supercharger has so much from idle I doubt there is any lag.
