The greatest era of The World Sportscar Championship.

Discussion in '1988 Jaguar XJR-9LM' started by MAD BAD EDD, Aug 10, 2002.

  1. This car belongs to the greatest era of sportscar racing - Group C.
When Jan Lammers, Andy Wallace and Johnny Dumfries took the Chequerd flag in 1988 at Le Mans it showed that Jaguar could take its 6th victory at Le Mans.

    You're so right !!

    Porsches 956 and 962
    Sauber C9 and C11
Jaguar XJR9 LM and XJR12 LM
WM P88 (for the top speed)...

These were beasts , all able to break easily the 350kmh , they all did it.

    People with great taste!
I wish Speed Channel would play their Racing Legends show's again. They had a great Ep about this car.

It is one of those cars you have to admire. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/grin.gif"></A>

I was lucky enough to be there in 1988 to see car number 2 take victory.

  9. I agree completely! The Group C era was and will always be by far auto racing's finest. No amount of modern technology or speed can replace its classic and unmisktakable mistique. The greats such as the Jaguar XJR-9, Nissan R90 and R92CP, Minolta Toyota 88C-V, Suber Mercedes C9 and C11, and Mazda 787B will never be forgotten. I am gld to have finally found a group of enthusiasts who can appreciate this grand era in motorsports. By the way, I have had no success in finding models of these cars, as they are all discontinued. Does anyone know where I could find some?

  10. Yes, I love group c more than any other era of racing as well. There's something so awesome about the 962. It won Le Mans as late as '94! The cars were beautiful and fast, and I agree, can never be surpassed as classiscs. You guys know M Schumacher raced saubers in group c before he made formula 1?

  12. Group C for me will always be the greatest ever. Especially since this era equates to at or around 10 LeMams wins and top 5 finishes as well, nothing will never even comes close these, not even the Works R8-R15 Audis can compare to any ONE of these artistic machines! Hell not the Peugoet 908HDi compares to anyone of these as well.
