  1. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

We had an '06 WRX limp into the shop today with a trashed transmission. Apparently the guy had already blown the first one, and now the second one grinds and pops and seizes LUL

I'm pretty set on a pignose STi, I love the '05 but I can't find a single one

You can't get older model Evo's where you are can you?

  3. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

because he thinks he can launch at 7 k every time cause they do on top gear .

  4. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

um evo's go back to I think 2003 here, don't care for them though

yes. very lightly modded. good brake pads, wider rims+nice tires, rear sway bar, camber bolts, harness. Id like a bit more power (actually just less heatsoak, goddamned texas), but other than that the car is great. A bit too forgiving on the track at times, but a verz good car to learn on. So much potential, and the last 10-15% is really hard to get out of the car. makes it great for learning, especially because it is forgiving and you dont have to have nuts of steel (or brain of mush) to experiment with stuff.

    dont mess with texas

  7. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

fun fact: the state slogan (dont mess with texas) started life as our anti-littering campaign.

  8. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

well that fact wasnt very fun

  9. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

  10. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

Hijack my thread anymore and you'll be scanning for a banning son!

  11. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

actually that fact is getting more fun

  12. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

I was more meaning the 90's Evo's, but an Evo 8/9 is far more fun to drive than the STi you're thinking of getting.

  13. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

Can you offroad in an evo as well as a wrx/sti?

  14. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

You're going to be doing a lot of offroading in your STi road car?

Anyway, the short answer is yes, yes you can. If it's a model equipped with the S-AWC system you'll be fine. The Evo 6 road car was useless on dirt due to the AYC causing it to shit it's self, which is why the RS (motorsport edition) was sold without Active Yaw Control, but that was taken care of for the 7. There is a reason the Evo's have been so successful in Group N categories in rallying the world over for many years.

Still wouldn't recommend taking either the STi or Evo off road in normal road spec trim though.

Now, I'm not trying to bad mouth STi's/WRX's, as they are still terffic cars in their own right, however, they are far more prone to understeer. Evo's just feel a lot more like a rear wheel biased 4x4, which to me, is a hell of a lot more fun.

  15. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

In person, the new sti is one of the most badass cars around. The evoX suffers from looking way too much like the crappy economy version now.

  16. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

    =(

  17. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

    I agree with headache's posts.

  18. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

you wouldnt want to offroad with the tires they come with from the factory

  19. Thinking about getting a new WRX/STI

well duh im not a moran guy

Even though I miss my STI, I'm glad I got rid of it since the roads in Montreal are full of potholes and badly maintained, you felt every single thing through your spine.

    I wouldn't mine getting a WRX though <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

The evo X looks like a previous generation galant and the subie looks like a mazda 3 with bonnet vent and fancy tail lights. Still id choose the STi as its an improvement rather than going backwards like mitsi

    improvement? both cars became uglyer
