This is heavier but the huge spoiler makes up for that by adding some more downforce. I trust lotus to keep the driveability just as good as te elise's. I guess I'd take this one but then again, it is a lot more expensive.

not really aimed at each other are they!

I guess some people do not understand the point of a lightweight car. Loti are famous for their superb power to weight ratios and their lightweight. They are also well known for their drivability. No, this car would not be better with 500 bhp, it would be better with 200. Although it is more that excellent with 192. Keep up the good work Lotus!

Well, if this has the handling that the Elise has, I'd pick this-better performance in the straightaways, and the spoiler looks nice. For all the people who think this needs a beefed up American engine with more hp....NO, this was expertly designed and does not need 500 hp. I, personally, am amazed a car can go this fast with only 192 hp-way to go Lotus!

EVO magazine summed it up pretty well.

I think te Elise looks better. And there is the 190 hp Elise.

  8. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

I'd take this car. It's way cooler looking than the elise or the esprit and it's significantly more powerful than the elise. Why have I never heard of this car?

  9. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

This for me , faster on a track thx to the race chassis and looks more agressive.

  10. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

heres a question, why NOT the exige. no reason at all, the exige excels in all categories.

  11. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

id take the exige because i like the looks better and the handling is all out awesome. but dont get me wrong the elise is a very nice which i would take in a second.

    I love Jennifer!!!!!!!

I want an Exige so much that it hurts.........I may have to steal the one that lives near me!

  13. Exige or Elise hmmmm... Both o' these babies look hot but I think the performance of the exige would sway my opinion. Still needs to be faster max. This 0-60 kicks arse 4.6secs! Just imagine it with a little increase engine size and bingo!

  14. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

246.15 bhp per tonne is a huge power to weight ratio. Especially for a naturally aspirated inline 4. If you just added turbo/s, new racing chip, exaust system and maybe bore out the engine this car wouldn't stop for anything!

  15. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

Sounds like you play gran turismo. Nothing in real life is that easy to modify! Lotus focuses on lightweight and handling more than top speed. This thing can out manuver just about any car out there on a twisty road so just keep that in mind.

    Supraking,

Um, the engine in the Exige is pretty stressed as it is - its a VPHD, comes with a lovely sports exhaust already, the ECU is atenuated to the VPHD, and you couldn't 'bore it out' unless you wanted to blow a couple of pistons and the gasket in about 4 miles. For the same reason, turbos are a no-no.

Besides, as someone has already said, that's a waste of time - this is an awesome track weapon - it makes my Elise feel baggy, sloppy and s-l-o-w on the track. However, as a street car, it is probably not as good a prospect as an Elise (particularly a standard or 111s) the VPHD is more truculent and lumpy at the low end of the rev range, and needs pushing to get massive performance.

Faced with the choice though, I'd get one *S*

    Elise for the summer
    Exige for the winter

  18. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

I wish they'd make an Exige of the new sexier shape!
But they're not going too cause they're already said no......damn!

  19. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

this is #$%#ing nice!!! imagine this with 500 hp!

  20. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

    This -Why?
Nicer body, more power and more stable (more weight).

  21. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

The Exige would be an awesome club racing car but I couldn't put up with it for everyday use.

    Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

You can supercharge these cars! Go to www.turbotechnics.com and find out more. You can also supercharge MGF's makes them go even quicker!!!!

  23. Re: THIS OR THE ELISE

A mate of mine has done just that, and the damn thing is phenomenal... a bit too noisy mind, but words cannot describe the kick in the back when you floor it...

Doesn't need 276bhp, 192 is ok, but hell its fun!!!

I would prefer one over the Elise, but they are a little out of my price range. For our lovely british roads the Exige is more suited as the downforce generated means the springs and dampers didn't have to be quite so stiff - this makes the ride slightly more compliant, but doesn't upset the handling at all....

    Stunnign car, I want one...now!

well at least your lucky enough to see one everyday.
i only saw 1 in my life
I'd definitly take this over an Elise.
    That car is RAW

These cars are easily capable of turbocharging, and it would still be in lotus' philosophy of low weight over high power to add a turbo, a turbo only adds a slight bit of weight that it more than makes up with in power.IMHO 300hp is just right for the Exige, that would put it into the ranks for the Molser Photon.
