this viral video thing is pretty insane

  1. My wife and I uploaded a video to YouTube around midnight on Wednesday, to tell our friends and fam we were going to have a baby. Thursday morning I put it on reddit, and actually took it down after a few hours because I hated the title.

I didn't think it would go this far.

Now, if you Google something along the lines of "baby clapping ultrasound" you will be directed to tons of different "articles" and whatever.

Over 60k views in less than 24 hours. We've had to copyright it, and even get this other company involved that will track it for us and take 30% of the advertising money from it, we get 70% and have already gotten a few hundred bucks.

This is a Weird shit. I've been contacted by radio shows, NBC Today Show wanted to do a phone interview at some ungodly hour this morning, I'm just now seeing this email. Been contacted by various chunks of media and it's just been a really weird day.

  2. Good for you!

    The video made me smile.

  6. Mirror is playing ads in front of it and not linking directly to it. Which is great because a firm is handling.

  10. Tell the news companies that if they want to interview you, they have to do it in General Chat of SC.net.

    We've already made some money.

These are the second ones that have paid us. It cost us nothing, we just give permission to a 3rd party to check up on who is running ads on it, and we get 70% of those ads, they get 30%. Plus they paid us a "signing bonus." The Inside Edition thing will air on national this evening.

I also just did a 15 minute interview with one of the larger Seattle radio talk shows. That was free, but it got a pretty big boost in views, which will eventually be affected by YouTube ads.

Being that this was a total fluke that cost us nothing, with literally nothing to lose, we're gonna enjoy it while we can.

The radio interview should be up on here eventually: mynw.com under podcasts -> dori monson

  12. Congrats man. Enjoy it

  13. Sounds like it could be a pretty solid start to his college savings.
