Top Gear magazine's bad review for the Brera

Gerard, a member of italiaspeed.com forums, wrote:

"Written by Tom Ford, it discusses only the 2.4 diesel. Praise for the looks of course, but he gradually sinks in the knife after a drive around the back lanes: "Not that the car is particularly bad. There's nothing eminently serious for me to seize upon with the usual journalist's rabidity, more that I'm just not stirred - which is somehow worse." He goes on to complain about nose heavy handling, and a "fair amount of lean into the corners". He is particularly critical of the driving position - "impossible to get comfy in the front seat"..."Enough to stop you buying the car if you're taller than 6ft" (By the way, I'm taller than 6ft, but was very comfy.) To add fuel to all you GT fans - he says that this "doesn't happen in Alfa's GT, which is a good looking car that is also cheaper than the Brera spec for spec. Er..."
The article ends with this killer: "This car should be cheaper and it remains to be seen whether the savvy British public is prepared to weigh the style over substance argument quite so heavily in favour of a pretty face."

It has to be said that this is at odds with the Top Gear online review of the 2.2 petrol Brera, and also at odds with the sister magazine Top Gear Test Drive. I suspect that when they finally review it on TV, they will be looking at the 3.2."

  2. the thing is, the GT looks so much better and probably drives much better. And the Brera is just fat, the GT should be the one everyone goes for

  3. shut up, shut up, shut the **** up. Brera is fat, brera is fat .... put a cork on it.

  4. He's gonna start eating your flesh indie boy.

  5. it really should have been RWD and had the engine mounted as far back as possible for a FR car.

  6. European cars can't handle.

  7. Oh dear.

  8. wow. will you be my hero?

  9. Its not suprising that the Brera got bad reviews. The engineering is very make do and mend. The shortened 159 platform should have been good but I am guessing that it was under funded for development.

  10. Most Alfa's are pretty average in the way they drive. FWD really is crap.

  11. i'd have either of the two,if not both.

  12. top gear know #$%# all
