    you're comparing an SL55 to a pagani zonda? how do u find this logical?
    or even to a F575!
    all the cars u compared barely fit in the same category!!!

    Thanks for the post. I'm constantly surprised by how test results vary from one test to the next. Motor trend got 4.39 0-60 out of the SL55...go figure.

    In any event, Automobile did a similar test and I agree with the other guy, these are odd cars to compare. My vote for a comparison:

    "Affordable Luxury GTs" (under US$150k)
    * SL55
    * Aston DB7
    * Bentley Continental

    "Luxury GTs, megabucks"
    * Aston Vanquish
    * 575M

    "Affordable Sports Cars" (under US$150k)
    * 360 Modena
    * 996 TT
    * RS4 (maybe belongs in sedan, but I hear its amazing)
    * Z8
    * TVR (pick one)
    * C06 (just because if I don't list it I'll get slammed)
    * Viper (same as above)
    * Coming soon...Lambo L140, Audi RSR, Ford GT40

    "Sports Cars, megabucks"
    * Enzo
    * Pagani Zonda
    * Koenigg
    * Mucielago

    Any others? What am I missing?

    (and yes, I know that hte C06 will beat all of these cars)

    I'm impressed that the SL55AMG achieving faster lap time than the Ferrari 575 and the TVR.

    Just so you guys know, it is almost guaranteed that AMS and Motortrend had a boosted version of the SL55. Their car was wayyyy too quick - especially for "only" 476HP. Newer tests of the 493HP SL55 variant have in fact, been slower than the tests of the 476HP earlier revision.

    What is a C06? I'm assuming you were talking about a Corvette Z06.
    I think by "Koenigg" you meant Koeniggsegg in the "Sports Cars, Megabucks" category.
    And I think there should be a "Don't buy this car unless you're willing to spend a $million" category.
    That would include Bugatti 16/4 Veyron, McLaren F1 (and LM, GT versions), Mercedes CLK-GTR, and a few other million dollar cars.

    if you would of read the article u would know two things: 1.Mario Andretti was driving and 2. he said on torquey motors (such as the benz) he would shift before the redline to keep the car in its powerband ( SL55- 516 ft-lb @ 2650-4500 rpm ); when AMG says 0-60 in 4.6, thats dead stop, release the brake, and floor the pedal (no special shifting). the torque really falls off after about 5000 rpm so keeping the revs low will give u better accel times so suck a dick branng.

    I was really impressed with the TVR, it costed so much less money than any other car there.
