it was a ticking bomb waiting to happen, everyone who knows about this stuff knew it. finally last sunday the bomb went off and is prolly killed 300k because of the lack of responsibilty of the affected nations to safegaurd against such a event. you cant stop it from happening but with that much time, you can save thousands of lives
Unless you want to measure who is actually giving the most phyisical help and actual supplies to the area. Seriously, right now money doesnt mean much to these countries when it comes to the tsunami.
THey run those companies and get tax breaks through the government. IE. HP, DELL, Compact... they all had factories in Tiawan and switched to China as word and relations with the government. However, thats only three companies, there are many more. More money is leaving the US then staying inside.
Once again, they whine and cry because we try to stop a dictator in another country, but when they need money, who do they come running to? #$%# the world, you can all get eatin' by that #$%#ing tsunami.
you obviously had touble reading what I said. anyway: " Today, however, the U.S. is 20th on a list of developed countries, ahead only of Ireland, in the percentage of its gross national product devoted to foreign aid, and such aid is expected to be reduced still further. Is this compassion? Perhaps the most obvious example of the current selfishness and mean-spiritedness is the incessant whining about taxes by middle-class Americans, which politicians are only too ready to exploit. Undoubtedly, many middle-class Americans, even in families with two jobs, are having trouble making ends meet. Nevertheless, many other middle- and upper-class Americans well can afford to pay more in taxes than they do--often a great deal more--without there being any noticeable effect on their standard of living. With the possible exception of Japan, the U.S. is the lowest taxed country in the developed world. "
There are people like that, but for every one of them there are 100 US bashers. How much did you give?
Operation cost of Marines, aircraft carriers, transport aircrafts and/or helicopters, command/coordination/communication equipments are NOTHING? Yes, nothing.

That doesn't include the vital US military intervention in places like Haiti and Bosnia, because that doesn't count as foreign aid (i.e. throwing money away). Instead, we spend billions every year doing something about the world's problems, rather than throwing money at them.
350 mil' still isn't that much (for the US's size). With the Canadian gov' matching private donations Canada will be giving at least twice what the US does per-capita... IMHO this dick-measureing contest is getting a bit out of controll...
