Its still good its faster than most cars in its class, its proably the best car in its class. With 0-60 less than 5 secs is good for me.

Looks like a fun car to drive.. I see how you mean it looks like a toy <IMG SRC="http://www.supercarforums.com/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">

I agree a different engine could have been used. If they could have sourced a supply of something like the engine out of an M3, or even better an M5, this thing could fly.

  3. Re: very nice

Styling is pretty sweet. All this talk about the engine too small or too weak or whatever-the car is very light. Little over a ton I believe. A car that weighs so littl ewouldn't work too well with a large motor like the M5's because of the size. For reference, the Ford V-6 isn't actually put in by the Mullen people they send it to another company and have the engine put in. You can put in any 4, 6, or rotary engine you want to, as far as I know. The 5-speed transmission, not exactly supercar-ish, but with such a small car, who cares. That's kinda my feelings on the motor size, while it doesn't have a massive output, the power-to-weight ratio is insane. If you take a Honda CRX (not much of a supercar, but works for illustration), and put in a BMW M5 motor, it won't work as is. Why? because it only weighs 2100 Lbs. or so. Would you put a V-8 in a Ford Focus, NO! Why? because No. 1 it won't fit. Second, the cost of the motor swap alone would be much more than just putting in a a turbo for example to produce the same power. And, with the turbo, you get to keep the stock motor the car was engineered with. This is helpful because you won't have problems with the suspension, mounts or the car itself, if you buy the right turbo. (Sorry it was long; however, I was looking to stress a point.) Why put something so large in something so small?<!-- Signature -->

    PART #2:
Sorry I'm so long-winded. I wouldn' go with the V-6 either, especially a Ford V-6. I would probably go with something a little cheaper and faster -like- the S2000's 2.0L 240Hp and the S2k trans.- rather than the renault. I don't know much about renault, but if I were to use a Honda motor, it would be easier to use the Honda trans, also. I think it was something like $10k to have the Ford V-6 put in, probably about the same as the S2k. Maybe more, maybe not. It would be a lot easier to mod the Honda motor to kill the V-6 than to ge tthe puny V-6 and it weighs more than the 4 cyl also. Power-to-weight ratio is what it's all about<!-- Signature -->

bad choice of engine though... imho.
still looks like it could be fast because of its light weight.
what do you guys think? especially about styling.

    Re: very nice

This is one hell of a car. I'm actually thinking about purchasing one for my next car, it would definately be supercharged. Its cheap compared to many sports cars. The Ford V6 could have been replaced, but the car is American and so is the engine. The car is able to hold a 4 cylinder, V6 or Rotary engine. Check out the company's page at www.mullenmotorco.com. Their office is in Las Vegas.<!-- Signature -->

I think I like it. The looks are a little different. If that 0-60 time is true though, then it's pretty good. Looks a little bit like a Maranello and a Ferrari F40. Imagine pulling up to a red light and seeing this thing beside you. Crazy.<!-- Signature -->

    Re: very nice

i actually own an M-11, and the talk that it needs a bigger engine is nowhere near valid. i have the supercharged engine option and i can get the car fairly easily up to around 165, but ive never pushed it higher. you get everything you need with the small engine, because the car is so light. you get amazing acceleration, great speed, and the comfort of not having to manage 300+ horsepower. its an amazing car, it can rival a $60,000 porsche for nowhere near the price. if you want to buy one (as it seems some people do, from the replies posted) you can order one from www.mullenmotors.com , its a fairly easy process and is well worth it.

Actually it's better than most cars at that price level, plus its really light and you can modify it to increase it's HP.
