  3. Re: What a beast....

I think the 800TT pretty much sound like a stock Viper but with an additional turbine sound...

  4. Re: What a beast....

Yeah, i would think a twin turbo viper would sound like a stock viper, with an additional turbine sound. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>

  16. Re: What a beast....

well yeah it would be pretty stupid if it was only for the 2003 models...

  17. Re: What a beast....

Well, the reason for the difference in engines is that most euro and jap cars, have restrictions on thier engines displacement (insurance mostly) So they engineered engines that could make great power with small displacement, or hp/lt.

American car makers don't have those restrictions, so when making thier sports cars, like the viper, they went with their tried and true methods of making power. Bigger is better, which comes from the 60s era of muscle cars.
Take the american sports cars. Mosler uses a vette engine, LS6. vette uses The same engine of 346ci. Basically the reliable 350.

    Saleen S7 uses a 427ci ford V8 at 550hp
    Viper used a 488ci V10, now uses 505ci V10

Ford GT will use a 5.4 lt. or 330ci V8 But unlike the others, ford has used OHC engines, like the mustang 4.6 (281ci) V8. While the camaros and firebirds (and soon GTO) use OHV (pushrod) V8s.

The main difference between Over head cam (what jap. and euro cars use) and OHV engines, is that OHV pushrod engines get all thier power in low rpms. While OHC engines get all thiers in high rpms.

So thats the good thing about american muscle car type engines, power at low rpms, for better acceleration.

Unless you're a HP/LT fan, then that would be the engine's downside. (but reffer to first paragraphs, american car companies haven't had to build small engines)

IMO, the downside to jap, and euro small displacement engines is that b/c they make relatively good HP, at high rpms, it would be stressful on the engines parts, considering they're small parts spinning at high RPMs, unlike big displacement engine parts spinning at low RPMs, IMO. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

Don't forget that gas is about three times cheaper in the US than in most european countries and the US is also less concerned about pollution.

  19. Re: What a beast....

Yeah, good old gas guzzling and big block SMOG legal American Muscle. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  20. Re: What a beast....

    Oh yeah?

If the american engines are so good (pushrod) and reliable as U say they are, how come we see more and more imports everyday in the US not to mention (american car) sales going down in countries outside the US????

  21. Re: What a beast....

Because those cars offer more to the buyer, for the money.

Example, take the nissan cars, altima, and maxima, nissans sedans are more sport now with 3.5 V6s. Compared to american cars, the american cars just don't stack up, b/c for the same amount ppl can get more with the import.

That's also why there are many I4 tuner cars. Teens parents bought import cars rather than american, then gave them to thier kids, and they tuned them.

I'm not saying that "american engines are so good (pushrod) and reiable"
    You Posted that.

I was stating the reason why american car co. use OHV engines for sports cars, is because they give better low end power, for better accel.

(BTW, in your sig. i think supras have I6s, not I4s)

  22. Re: What a beast....

You'd better change your signature because no stock supra could ever keep up with any stock Viper, and you know that don't you?

  23. Re: What a beast....

    Also supras come with I6s, not I4s like in that signature. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  24. Re: What a beast....

Vipers and Supras are both damn good cars but...

  25. Re: What a beast....
