what does bhp stand for?????

  1. Hey guys I was wondering if there was a difference between bhp and hp. If there's one, what is it???

    It stands for braking horsepower. I have no idea whats the difference between hp and bhp.

    The difference between Bhp and HP is usually just a typiing preference. Bhp (Brake horse power) is the horsepower made by the car at the flywheel. Before driveline losses occur. Even in remarkably efficient drivelines such as the Cobra R's you will lose about 15% of the power you make at the flywheel. Anyone who has dyno tested a car can verify this. Usually people will quote horsepower at the wheels very specifically such as RWHP (rear wheel horse power).<!-- Signature -->

    your still loosing quite a bit of power under the hood. fans, alternator, air, power steering. but some cars all of taht stuff is electric, to save some horses, but you still loose more power in the drive train.<!-- Signature -->

    hp, what you get to the ground. bhp, what you get from your engine.
