What is the longest road course in the world?
Don't know any course longer then the Nurburgring.
The la sarthe is also pretty long, close to 8 miles i believe.
if there is anything longer than the Nring, id like to see it. BTW how long is ehra lessein (sp?) VW's track. how long is the whole thing?
Might want to define what a road course is. A permanent circuit dedicated to motor racing, or a course (possibly comprising public roads) that is at least partially used during the year for motoring competition? If the latter, then the Isle of Man TT has to be right up there, at 37.7 miles per circuit.
Well yeah, I guess Targa Florio counts as well then. The first issue of that race was like, over 400 KM
I'll count Baja as a road course.
I think Panamericana counts as well
I think you need to make it a closed circuit otherwise you would have to allow all targas and rallies like Paris-Dakar.
I'm pretty sure the Mille Miglia was a closed circuit (though only one lap, right)?
How long is the closed circuit on that track? And, on the 37.7 mile long course how long is the longest straight?
This is the track layout for the TT circuit.
As you can see the longest straight is about 2 mile.
Damn, why don't the freaking pics work <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>
the old Spa was 14 miles wasn't it? I've no clue, maybe one of those testtracks like VW's one
so, 38 mls. in total
This is the only decent size course map I could find for the Mille Miglia. I believe this would qualify as the longest closed circuit raced on. This is the map from the historic racing event, but gives an idea of the original.
How long is it?
... about 930 miles to the American layman...
I still thing The Ring is the best long race track in the world.
what about Bathurst, Australia?
