540 hp is big, but do you have any idea how many other supercars have way more than that?

  3. Re: What Power!!

Yea and how many of those cars can you afford?

  4. Re: What Power!!

I'd love to see this thing with twin turbo's <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

Not me, personally, I think turbo's are overrated, try twin superchargers, you get more power through the entire power range than with turbo's and also more longievity. also, no turbo lag.

first you must not quite understand the enigma that is turbo lag. It is a lag in time when the engine is getting NO added psi from the turbo, so there fore you mothers SAAB (which is GM, the same company that makes the Trans Am that you hate so much) does not get its low end torque due to the turbo. Second, if you actually took the time to read the article immediately preceeding the stats of this car you would have noticed that the motor in the car is a STROKED LS1, not bored. But i guess that would require you to actually spend time reading something, assuming that you actually can read. <!-- Signature -->

Supercharging is definitly an option when the car enough NA power to spin them up. This Ls-1 definitly does.

LegendNH, that is funny shit. I should post pictures of some of the cars rolling around my town. (Including garish yellow Mustangs, not 4.6 gt's, just v6 Mustangs. With Saleen body kits.) Is that a bumper sticker i can buy?

That is exactly what I was thinking.

  10. Re: What Power!!

pretty crappy, its got low hp per liter, what a waste

  11. Re: What Power!!

Since when is 95 hp/liter out of a normally aspirated engine "low hp per liter"?<!-- Signature -->

He's just another confused kid thinking a meaningless stat will help him put down cars easier. I wish some of the people here would realize that the only time hp/liter actually shows anything is when you are comparing to engines of the SAME SIZE. It doesn't show the amount of technology that's in the car. Besides, many cars can make over 100hp/l with aftermarket parts, but there's no reason to sell a 570 horsepower (or even higher) Firebird to the public. Insurance would be a killer, and I'm sure there'd be lots of repairs, as anything that makes lots of power (yes, any engine, not just American) becomes less reliable.

Superchargers vs. Turbos, its easy answer, turbos. There is alot more you can do with a Turbo, a turbo spools because of exhaust gases so the potential power is unlimited. With a supercharger you get a bunce of power off the line so you waste that spinning (don't give me the slicks crap cause how many of you personally have slicks on your car) and you lose power high end. Turbo's power band just keeps going and going and going, it doesn't lose power. As for turbo lag, they make turbos where the shaft is on ball bearing, if your idling the thing is going. And for the dude that said he wanted to see a Turbo LS1 www.LS1speed.com thats Speed Inc. I know the owner his name is Tom, I get alot of stuff through them, one of his cars is a 1968 Camaro with a twin turbo LS1 in it. I also know another guy in Schamburg Illinois with a 98 LS1 Trans Am, hes got twin turbos in it to.<!-- Signature -->
