WHAT'S THE POINT?????

Discussion in '1966 Dodge D/Dart Super Stock' started by Vrooom, Aug 9, 2002.

  1. I have a couple of questions:

    What is the point putting a 8,3 l V10 in a pick-up truck?

How do you utilize 500 hp in a rear wheel drive, with most of it's 5000lbs on the front wheels?

You can't pull G's in it either, because of the high center of gravity and i'm guessing, some leaf sprung live rear axle?

i can see that it's doing 0-60 in 5 sec. But it have to be pretty easy smoking some tires with this one.

    TORQUE IS KING !!

The Point is that you'll be in the coolest, fastest f**king pick-up truck ever built and since it's fairly large you can easily ram any ricer in sight into the ditch where they belong...

I'd prefer the Dodge SRT-10 over any turbo crap jap-car.....I'd bring it to Hennessy and have them tune it to....say.....850 hp and modify gear ratio and I'll smoke any skyline or supra ricer in the f**king street and I'll still be in a truck!!!!!

Well first off...apparently you didn't read the article that says it's an all aluminum engine..not cast. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T truck. It has 17" wheels and not too out of the ordinary suspension, and it easilly out performs most mustangs or other p.o.s. cars like it. My truck corners better than most sports cars I have seen. If this new design has improved suspension..I'm sure it's even a lot better. I never gave it a thought to ever trade in the SS/T, but for this one...it's a strong possibility. I still don't care for the new front end design though...

I hear you man !! I driving a slightly tuned up 1995 Impala SS, KN-filter, Edelbrock Hedders, modified cam....some +300hp on the wheels..
and my friend's got a 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T with the 5,9 litre Magnum engine and he's keeping up with me all the way up to 100mph, even in corners...

Dodge pick up trucks kick ass !!!!

Very nice car, sweede, and ur buddys too.
yeah, this truck (almost called it a car <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"> ) will perform much better than you can imagine. If you had any idea about cars or trucks, you'd realize the engine is aluminum, not iron! who would think the viper has a iron block engine? moron...
ne wayz, also, V10s have been in trucks for along time, although normally not for the explict purpose of hauling ass. i also have a performance pick up, pictured below. its alot faster than you would think, and the weight split isn't that bad. most pickups are about 60/40, not near nominal, but not that bad either, considering.
also think insurance rates. also, like my truck, it can pull some serious g's i bet, and it can also carve some corners, maybe w a 2in/4in drop, front/rear. but in the pic, it already looks pretty low. another thing, what other performance vehicle out there is also some what practical (minus your imapala, sweede, again, nice car)? this thing can get you home fast, and then haul your ATV around when you want to do some romping. all around, i'd much rather have this than a camaro/mustang/import crap.<!-- Signature -->

    Hey SBChevy4ever !!!

You got a cool truck there man! is it a 350 cu.i ? what modifications have you done ?
Just like you said, American cars are totally superior when it comes to combining power, speed and practical use...I can easily take five people and bunch of travelling bags in my Impala and it will still do like a 150 mph....and this is a car I paid $18,000 for....

Check out the Impala Super Sport - the best affordable car ever built.

    Ok, it's aluminium.Still 500hp V10 in a truck?? It,s not a Viper.
Viper is a sportscar barely able to cope with a 500hp engine.
Maybe if this truck had AWD! <!-- Signature -->
