Where did the V-16 power go

  1. It only had around 170 hp for a V-16. I figure its because its old but still I would expect this car to go fast and have power. The name also throws you off. I figured this would be a land speed record car.

give it a break man, it's from the 30's. Also, the reason that it's not fast is that it weighs over 3 tons and doesnt have that much power. And 1 more thing. What do you mean the "name throws you off"? Okay, lets break this down. Cadillac V16 Phaeton. Cadillac=the name of the marque. V16=type of engine. Phaeton=a word that was used for convertibles. There, does that help?

The power is low b/c the gas at the time was very low octane, so the compression ratios were very low, hence the low power.
